Does anybody have any links to a synthesis from this etaqualone to Methaqualone HCl?
There is also available in Canada an analogue of Methaqualone which might be another good starting point.
I am very interested in doing some research on Methaqualone as a sedative for the over-50s due to its cholesterol-reducing properties.
Also of interest is the apparent usefulness of zolpidem tartrate in stroke victims, MS sufferers and even people who have been in PVS (persistent vegetative state) for a lengthy period, mand there is evidence that it can even help to bring people back from this usually irreversible condition - see YouTube 'The Ambien Effect'.
The addition of 25mg diphenhydramine to 250mg Methaqualone HCl would produce MANDRAX, an hypnotic rather than a daytime sedative, nwhich Methaqualone in the single-drug QUAALUDE form (300mg recommended dosage) is far more useful in clinical practice.
It was definitely withdrawn from the market prematurely, given the new information we have on its effects in specialised groups.
However synthesis seems quite difficult and in a large number of stages; the start points all appear to be too far back in the chainof reactions to be easily completed, so the Composynth analogue and ETAQUALONE would be, in theory, better places to begin syntheses.
Anyone?
