So yeah, I think this event deserves it's own damn thread!! Cos I know there are a few of us going %)

RE>GEN : Regrowth 2010

Start Time: Saturday, 24 April 2010 at 12:00
End Time: Monday, 26 April 2010 at 17:00
Location: Berlang Forest Rd, Major's Creek, Southern Tablelands NSW

R.E.G.E.N are happy to present the return of the Regrowth Festival!
After a year away the annual Regrowth festival is back, celebrating its 5 year anniversary with 3 days of music, workshops, cinema, tree planting and good times over the Anzac day long weekend of 24th to 26th April.
There will be 2 stages showcasing international, interstate and local artists playing psychedelic and progressive trance, dubstep, techno, wobbly beats and chill. With REGEN's thumping DB sound system tuned to perfection by Secret Weapon, expert lighting show and Decor extravaganza!
Numerous workshops on topics such as composting, bush tucker, and hula hooping!
A healing area with a range of qualified masouses to soothe those tired muscles.
A diverse range of food and market stalls.
The re vegetation project will be focusing on planting local Eucalyptus species to improve the biodiversity of the region with the long term aim of reintroducing koalas to the site.
As always the event will be fully sustainable and aim to have a positive impact on the planet. Rubbish managed by No Waste Events.
Friendly security, St John's First Aid, free drinking water.
All this on a beautiful lush private property in the Southern Tablelands. Plenty of great camping areas and easy access road in.

Insert all joy and excitement and discussion thereof in here!!!! *stomp stomp*

5 sleeps to go!! *more anticipatory stomps* =D

hang on, hold it, wait..... what's with the sunday morning music shutdown? ... this is complicating when we are to attend. which artists come most recommended? i don't know doof minstrels by name.

^^ Yes! That threw me off too. Sunday NIGHT is the big night for music. They have the stage close early on Sunday morning so that everyone can gets their sleep and be refreshed for Sunday night ;) %)

SO, if you're only coming for 1 night, Sunday's the go-er.

silentangst, you'll be there in spirit. I'll have a stomp for ya =D

bwahahahaha sick! they might be screening my short film at the cinema at regen! =D=D=D i've always wanted to have it screened in front of some strangers, and have all but given up on seeing it happen.

n3o, i saw the word "cinema" on your post and quickly uploaded a very compressed copy onto youtube and forwarded the link to the organisers. they said sure!

what a beautiful setup!

too bad i mistimed a gross miscalcuation and ended up imploding my brain halfway through sunday night. nice to see you all, even though i thought you were all paramedics trying to resuscitate me or someshit =D

Ahh dude, it's all good, we all implode at some point =D
It was indeed a good set-up, beautiful camping area. Music was awesome, but too far away. And it was fucking COLD! Hello there winter!! Nice to see you again! :)
Good times <3

Hello,

Neophyte my good friend went to this and took his GF as an introduction to doofs and here's some choice excerpts I thought I would share.

AHHHH, PSYTRANCE HAS GONE TO SHITE!

I'm mourning the death of my scene :(

It's become as formulaic as britney.

Whatever happened to weird, twisted, evil, hard goa trance? Leave the disco kiddies at home, this is what nightmares are made of! If you can't handle the speed, get out of the forest!

Chill-out DJs, if you don't know what to play just put on a Shpongle CD from like 4 years ago, none will notice, GRRRRRR!

The people and vibe were lovely as always, just the music was terrible.

They had prog on until 1am! And it wasn't lovely atmospheric prog, it was housey crap that just sounded the same.

Then the 'proper' psy was terrible, I ended up heckling the DJs and storming off in disgust. I can let mainstream musicians off the hook 'cause they don't know any better, but we can't let the scene tunes go to such depths! It's our duty to insult bad DJs!!!!

i lol'ed at his rant. Was the music as poor as he expressed?

I will agree with him that there wasn't any full-on dark psy, i.e. nothing above about 150bpm. I know the shit he's talking about and it wasn't there. So he's right in that respect.

Did he have bad dr00gs by any chance?? Because the music was still just as awesome as ever. So he's WRONG in that regard ;)

It just wasn't that kind of doof though. It was a more family-oriented, festival atmosphere. Not the brain-rape, journey-to-the-end-of-the-universe kind of doof. So no, it is not the death of "his scene" 8) ;)

sure it wasn't as fast as at sounds psylly, but it still did my head in. i had a good boogie too. no complaints from me.

the event was well ran, and very friendly.
great music. i had no complaints.
sure , a few sets that were over 150bpm wouldnt have gone astray,
but the stuff that was played was great.
and i loved the proggy techno, especially grouch, he was awesome.
zen mechanics was killer too, and all the ozzies rocked i thought.

crowd was friendly and beautiful
the venue incredible
the moths were a yummy feast
the cold was fine,-----no such thing as too cold, just wrong clothing.

the smorgasboard of indulgences was also well catered.

all in all, i enjoyed myself, and thought it a great party.
