I woke up 2 weeks ago with a large painful lump on the left side of my neck. It just appeared overnight. I took Ibuprofen and warm compresses on it to no avail. Finally went to the doctor yesterday. He gave me a course of antibiotic (Doxycycline) for ten days. He told me if that didn't help he wanted me to see a surgeon to get a biopsy of the lump. Now my mind is screwing with me and creating all kinds of scenarios. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so what was the outcome?

Take the drugs, see what happens and go from there.

There is no point in worrying about potential health risks.

If it appeared overnight it's unlikely cancer. Acute cases usually stay acute until they are resolved.

You probably have an infection somewhere in your head. Go back to the doctor if you've taken all the antibiotic doses and you feel the same or worse.

i have this swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck. i also have lyme. i think it happens when the liver gets overwhelmed and the body can't process toxins quick enough (so your lymph gets backed up). I think this can happen from infections, allergies, food poisoning, etc..

Hmmm I get a swollen lymph node on the left side of neck every week or so...just in the morning...its gone by afternoon. its so bad i can barely swallow. I wanted to go to the dr about it at first but realised its usually after a few days of opiate binging, but before wds start...maybe something to do with the immune system. It kinda freaks me out too though
