switching my script, need some info on opana

Okay, I'm not so sure if this belongs here or in basic drug discussion, but I need some info about opana. I know I could look it up on wikipedia or other similar places but I wanted some first hand info from people who use it, and you all seem to know your drugs around this website.

Long story short, I need to know as much about opana as possible.
I have a prescription for 80mg oxycontin. I am one of the few people who legitimately can't take the new OP formula. As much as I dislike it because I can't crush it, It also really causes some uncomfortable side effects (and I know a lot of addicts just say that because they are harder to get high on which makes it awkward between me and the doc especially because I'm being honest). I have been calling around pharmacies and getting the last of the real OC's for as long as I could, but they are no longer available anywhere. My doctor mentioned switching my script to opana, but I don't know much about it and that's where you come in.

Is it really comparable to OC? What are they like for pain? What about pleasure? Can they be crushed or do they turn to goo like OP's? How long do they last? What is a regular dose in comparison to my OC 80's? Are they a good replacement? Anything you guys can tell me is great. Thanks in advance

An Opana 40 is stronger than an OC80 when snorted. I'm pretty sure the nasal bioavalibility of Opana is greater than oral (unlike OC which is better oral). It kind of gels up but not nearly as bad as the OPs so you can still snort it if you don't need too much. Also, I don't know if you IV or not but orally the bioavalibility is only like 25% so if you IV it, it makes it more like 160mg of OC or more. from one 40mg Opana.

Opana is insanely strong. its aprox 3x stronger than oxy. I am on the new OP right now, but i really dislike them, im looking for my 40 mg opana ERS!

and yes im pretty sure they work amazingly for pain because everyone i know that hated OP did indeed switch to 30 or 40 mg opana ER and you can do those however you want!

No, orally oxymorphone is twice as strong as oxycodone. You can do the conversion here -> http://www.globalrph.com/narcotic.cgi Snorting it will make it feel much stronger than that. Oxymorphone is more sedating than oxycodone, rather than stimulating, and can give you a much better nod. Its effects are closer to morphine.

I had my script changed from perc 10s 4 times a day to opana 10s er twice a day and opana 5s ir twice a day for breakthourgh.
I snort mine.. I never taken them orally and I'm starting to get pretty tired of having to snort all my meds. The 10ers gel up in my nose pretty bad, but the 5ir are really great.
Like the post above says. They will make you nod. I don't like it.. I have trouble keeping my eyes open so so so tired.
but they do make ya feel all warm and fuzzy so to speak. I heard the W/Ds from them are a bitch too. more so then oxycodone.
They have legs thats for sure even snorting them I can go 8 to 10 hours before I need to redose but I have a feeling that honeymoon is going to be short lived.
I personally like the feeling I get from oxycodone better then the oxymorphone. I like having that I can take on the world feeling I get from oxycodone , instead of the I'm so tired Im going to lay down feeling I get from the oxymorphone.
My doc says he can switch me back or put me on oxycontin if I want. I'm thinking of trying the oxycontin. I have tried the new ops suck on them while drinking a coke isn't to bad.


I have a question, sorry don't to mean to highjack your post. just a simple question. What milligrams of oxycontin is comparable to the amount of opana I'm taking now? wich is 10mg er twice a day and 5mg irs twice a day..
He said if he switched me to oxycontin he would put me 2 10mg of oxycontin a day.. That seem to be kind a low to me.
