When I had been taking k pin for my anxiety it burned out on me. So I told the doc and we switched to xanax. Well after this episode going 51 50 they detoxed me from my xanax and I saw my pdoc today and he put me back on klonopin. Now I have been off of klonopin for almost a yr so I was hoping that it would kick back in. Now I know these two drugs are in the same class but all I have is a litl more xanax and I don't want to be stuck back where I was when it burned out.

I've done one hundred xanax....not at one time but def. abused them and when i ran out i went back to my rx of kpins and i had no ill affects but thats just me. the conversion chart say they are equal except kpins stay in your system a hell of alot longer so i would say you'll be fine but like i said this is just my experience with it and im no doc.

Will the klonopin work.

I don't know, but considering it has stopped working for before it may happen again. Have you considered Valium? If you are taking the medication for general anxiety and not mainly for panic attacks then it may be the better option if your doctor is open to prescribing it to you.

I was having the same problem. Dr put me on a snri (effexor).its an anti depressant but helps with anxiety, chronic pain. Have been on that for two years still taking xanax 6mg day is what I'm prescribed but with the snri sometimes I only need one bar a day. Snri will take about two weeks to start fully working but you will definitely notice the difference.

Venlafaxine (Effexor) or any SNRI's may not work for some people though (Myself included) Infact they left me suicidal so be warned.

Benzos (Xanax included) are not recommended for long term use but they do have a much higher success rate at getting rid of Anxiety in the short term.
