Swine Flu Alert In Cocaine!

Nah, just kidding, got your attention though didn't I.

But has anybody thought about the drugs they snort or inject, especially inject, like heroin that is coming from countries such as SE Asia and coke from south american places, that some wehre along the line the drug might get a bit of body fluid or something in it, especially swallowing pellets of heroin from a prostitute from cambodia and they did a shoddy job and something happened.

Do you think this is just pure paranoia or is it possible an STD or something else or a virus could infet drugs smuggled into the country like that
 
Yeah....and especially coke. Don't they have people with bare feet stamping on the leaves? But I'm assuming once it's heated up to make the powder, it would kill any bacteria.

before someone beats me to it.

a virus needs a warm body in order to multiply. It can use liquids and such as a medium to spread, i.e. when you cough, without your hand on your mouth, your effectively became aerosol can, spraying thousands of tiny liquid drops filled with the virus into the air. Consequently the virus, depending on the weather at the time can float around and be inhaled by your fellow humans. however if a virus was float down into a pile of cocaine which was being packed and then was sent several thousand miles to some fucked up rich white kid then I'd hardly be worried.

I'd be more worried about bacteria.

Bacteria and its brother fungus, don't neccesarily need a warm body. Yes they need liquid but can become dormant in dry places waiting for a bit of liquid. now for the most part your body mops up most bacteria that enters it. Also most bacteria (excluding those who are responsible for stomach ulcers) are destroyed by the stomach acids so again not much to worry about. Also if your an injecting drug user then you should be using micron filters and such, another barrier to reducing your intake of bacteria. Most problems that arise from bacteria is the toxins they produce as a by product of their purpose......that is why most things around us contain dreadfully dangerous types of bacteria and yet we don't die. Its when they find something nice to much on, like some warm chicken, and decided to multiple into the stratosphere...lots of bacteria lots of toxins

That said if your dealer doesn't wash his hand after having a piss and then decides to pack a baggie of charlie then my friends Australia says no.

When I read this title I was like NOOOOO, cause I'm meant to be getting a little coke in the next few days. I just hope something bad like the above doesn't happen but I think it should be fine.
 
I figure people have been snorting drugs imported from the first world for decades with relatively few scare stories. If this was a major risk you can be sure the prohibitionist media would have jumped on the story and blown it up into a new scare tactice long ago.
 
Yeah I'm more worried about what they're cutting my gear with than the risk of swine flu or some other virus that needs a host to survive. Plus if you're banging you'd want to be using filters anyway.

Yeah, smiggle. I think you'll be fine. As someone else said, it's blown out of proportion.
 
Micron filters allow virii and bacteria in. Theres expensive ones that dont i Believe. When you see bacteria magnified it looks like a giant big disgusting monster that came right out of Hades
 
Swine flu was just the joke. I was more interested about pellets of H and coke passing through probably poor people that may have diseases, its not like they're going to send the pellets to some A Grade lab and inspect it for minute amounts of faecal matter or blood
 
Yeah, swine flu is hardly a big deal, people probably wouldn't even notice it was anything other than an ordinary flu if it wasn't for the huge media frenzy trying to create an interesting story so they could talk about something other than how much the economy sucks for a week or two.
 
Animal flus have the ability to become a massive threat. The flu that sweapt the world just after the first world war killed more people then the war itself. When a flu jumps from an animal to a person its unique enough that the anti-bodys from past flu's don't recignise it and has to fight it fresh.

That's why the world panics when an animal flu comes around. The world learned from all the slaughter in 1918 and people shit themselfs when swine flu/bird flu/equine flu etc are found.
 
In a hypothetical scenario yes, but the current outbreak is nothing to be concerned about.
 
Back in '02/03 when terrorism, anthrax and envelopes were buzz words, I became quite paranoid of powders... it seemed like the perfect weapon against the 'western world'.
 
That's pretty funny, no big time coke players would be dumb enough to have anything to do with a plot like that though, they'd be shooting themselves in both feet, with a roket launcher.
 
On the ABC this Wednesday, there's a Cocaine Diaries episode being aired at 9:35. I believe it addresses the issue of hygiene in the transfer of cocaine from its origins to the streets. I'll be watching!! :D
 
If I were to insufflate, I'd be quite confident as to the nature of what I had... that's IF.

If you were going to intentionally fuck with gear, there'd be no point sending it to Australia. The U.S. on the other hand...
