Sweet smelling pills - a masking agent?

sometimes when I buy pills, and I take a whiff, the pills smell kinda sweet. I was told that this means they are fresh, and that sweet smell is a masking agent on them to prevent drug sniffing dogs form detecting them in sweeps.

Has anyone else heard this or know anything about the validity of this reason?

If not, have any other ideas why they smelled sweet.

(oh, and just a P.S. these were LEGIT tabs, so they weren't just pressed sugar or anything)

A little remaining safrole? That is just a wild guess. Is it almost rootbeer like, this sweet smell?

Please use some common sense when posting - leaving incriminating information only puts you at risk.

It really depeneds where your pills were stored as they will often absorb smells from what they were stored in / beside etc.

Same question was asked below about shitty smelling pills/mdma - could be the synth if not then normally how they were transported.

I personally dont think its a masking agent as dogs would still smell the drug they were trained to detect (IMHO)
