swapping to methadone and back

Hi All,

From what I have read methadone is harder to come off than other opiates. Is it more difficult to swap back to morphine than to swap from morphine to methadone?

Hi Nimshie, no it isn't more difficult, it's even a good idea to go to morphine before tapering from it

The longer-half life opiates are much harder to come off of because the withdrawals last so goddamn long. Anywhere from 1-2 weeks, maybe longer.

I've always had to switch (and of course, adjust) to a shorter half-life opiate and then taper from that.
