9:38am hard to breathe in the morning
sinuses go to war

navel gazes back at me, floats
a question:
“who did this to you?”

these burns, slits, scratches
are fabulous

(eager to show them to you)

enjoy waiting
for the skin to grow back

*

11:16am have erased everything
sold my guitar

trashed myself like hotel room

dust rushes the room

thankfully
still know all the words for food

*

12:00pm ‘life gets you
in the knees’

scratching pain

while the sun multitasks

*

5:20pm sky is boy’s & girl’s
(pink clouds stretched)

still know all the words for food

& know you from photos,
(in some your face survives)

*

5:46pm was once a great lover
of books

I keep the nails sharp
bleed from scratching

smell of breath mints

*

8:12pm room dark
eyes suck on monitor-glow

no recent updates

a joint to curl me:
night passes quickly this way

muted TV
reminds me: haven’t eaten

*

10:18pm haven’t eaten

(all these demands)

taste my teeth:
breath mints

make an effort:
head tilts toward kitchen

*

2:13am say what you want about me
but got myself a good setup

wired, rigged
no need to leave keyboard

watching you
all this time

2:14am frosty monochrome
intercepting your walk

(knowing your brittleness)

& loud clear
your pulse
charging the speakers

You have this amazing way of making the scene autobiographical while remaining in a third person mode...it's fascinating to watch this man devolve.

You're way too kind, folks! I really appreciate you reading and commenting. :)

I love how this is so clunky and detatched [to borrow your description, Raz] yet intimate and beautiful at the same time. I enjoyed reading this. :)

Ill add my voice to the chorus. It was great. I loved the line "so many demands on my time" for something as simple as eating. great stuff.
