Supreme Court Outlaws Medical Marijuana

all it means, is things are going to continue the same as they had for the last 9 years since medical mj came into play, the police aren't interested in med patients nor will they crackdown, they FEDS have always seized medical pot, and raided medical clubs, one case going on right now is eddy lepp's, he was growing a few thousand plants on his property n' the faids raided, he is out on bail.

The government has their loopholes to screw us over and we the people, have ours. The only way to stop this corruption the government created for us called democracy is to do some currupting of our own. FUCK THE FEDS.

Yea, that'll show 'em! I dunno, seems like most people who have a problem with this are those who don't need medical marijuana, but want to smoke it and get high off it. The people with legitimate pain seem to benefit from taking Marinol just as much as if they smoked marijuana. And why cause a whole other sleu of possible health problems by smoking pot? It makes perfect sense to me why pot is illegal but Marinol is not.

^^^ This isnt just about medical marijuana, its about the tyranny of the government on a whole. Its about men in suits telling a dying woman they dont think she deserves relief because she doesnt want to take UNNATURAL medicines that make her feel sick. The governement is protecting the pharmacuetical industry, because if they dont they will lose millions of tax dollars....which they will regain from the MJ! All in all these politicians are too afraid to say what needs to be said...WE WERE WRONG!
Instead they are content to continue with the lies and the bullshit. Ruining the lives of hard working, honest americans.
Cannabis is a plant!!! it makes NO SENSE to me that pot is illegal and marinol is not....
Do you think your government really cares about your welfare?!? Iv got one word for u......Cigarettes......Think about it...

I fail to see how judges making a ruling on a federal law equates to "tyranny". The law needs to change, voters must make this happen. I think the "government" is fairly representative of the interest of a large number of people in the US. I also think that a large number of people whom actually get off their ass and vote think that pot is "bad" and should remain illegal. I don't agree with them, but why get pissed off at judges enforcing a law? Don't like the law? Convince the public it needs to be changed and fucking vote.

Isn't it just a more fundamental argument?

They are trying to dictate the morality of each person's life - simple as that.

I don't give a fuck if it's a "plant" a "chemical" or a "drug". A person in a socially liberal society should be able to modify their thought process to suit their liking. We are still individuals.... aren't we?

Doesn't it state right in your fucking constitution that you are free to pursue happiness?

Admitting you're a republican on bluelight is like telling your family you have a drug problem. But I'll fess up. I think the issue is better left up to each state. End of story.:\

^ I'm a registered Republican, I do not just vote along party lines though. I'm not afraid to admit this to anyone.

*shrugs* Why be afraid of anything in life....no one gets out alive anyway ;)

Anyway..this law is absolutely ludicrous (as ludicrous as the drug laws in America), a major waste of taxpayers dollars. The Bush administration seems to take pride in wasting tax payers dollars. 8)

It makes great sense that pot is illegal- to the people in charge.
The political elite see the drug war for what it is: A perfect power tool. What other laws (besides new terror laws) legitimize such a massive intrusion into citizen's privacy, violating basic rights in our Constitution?

The Drug War represents to the political elite: 1)Economic stimulation for prisons and police and guns and alcohol and tobacco and Big Pharma
2)Complete federal control
3)Their last grasp on an increasingly drugged populace
4)Insurance that people won't replace trees with hemp for paper
5)Protection of the status quo
6)Way of dividing society based on the scapegoating of illegal drug users (or so-called terrorists).

The evil people who currently lead American society derive great pleasure from others' misery and hopelessness.

They realize the long-held truth of "My freedom ends where your's begins." But they choose to ignore it in search of more power. Typical human power struggle.

I know that it sucks about the ruling, but maybe you should all stop bitching and VOTE. Now that we know that the Supreme Court is heavily against us (with the most bizarre of allies at that), we need to take this shit to capitol hill. Med pot just ain't gonna happen. As long as the pharmaceutical industry is the largest and richest in the US, you can bet your ass that they will spare no expense in killing sweet cannabis.

Legal weed for all adults, or nothing.

I am dissapointed in the ruling.

I am also a registered republican.

Couldnt have said it better.

People need to understand that this decision is about congress's jurisdiction over interstate commerce and the fact that marijuana as a commodicty is traded over state lines.

As a side note, the justices commented that marijuana does have medicinal qualities and that americans could change the laws.

This is disgusting. All drug laws are based on the idea that the government is better than you, so therefore they can choose what you can and can't have based on their moral (religious?) code. The fact that the government apparently and effectively "owns the rights" to select chemical structures they declare cannot be seen or touched by the human race is ludicrous. Whatever happened to freedom?

Whatever happens, I'll just continue to vote Libertarian.

In case anybody's curious, of the 3 judges that opposed this ruling, all were Reagan or Bush Sr. appointees, including the 'ultra conservative' Clarence Thomas. Both Clinton appointees supported this ruling.

I don't believe it's a coincidence that the only people who opposed this were Republican appointed judges, nor am I surprised that both of the Clinton appointees ruled that the will of the Federal government was supreme to all else.

And the U.S. takes ANOTHER step backwards.

I disagree. There still has to be control over the states. Federal power is more important than state power. I mean it always has been illegal under federal guidlines to smoke even for medical purposes. Its like the gay marrage thinking they can over power their state laws. And because the DEA could of made arrests before, but they choose not to, I doubt they are going to make any arrests for true medical purposes.

Plus I know i'm going to get a lot of shit for saying that, but its true, no matter how much we hate the current president and our country, we aren't going to over throw the government over drugs. Congress is trying to pass a medical marijuna bill now, So if you want to change it. Contact your elected officals.

So there taking away the one thing some people need to live a pain free normal life... How fucking sad. As the months go by I continue losing faith in the country I was once proud to live in.

^This isn't a Democratic or Republican issue, why are the Republicans always wanting to argue, last I checked the majority of Supreme Court Justices were appointed by Republicans . . . 6 of em voted for, not just the 2 appointed by Clinton.

yea i actualy saw the front page of usa today at work at first i saw the picture and hoped for good things however once i read the headlines i was very disapointed

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but who here has used marijuana for pain management? To me, weed intensifies pain (and all senses). I smoke quite regularly and tried to use it when I had a kidney stone. I felt much worse. But I suppose everyone is different.
