Catching Fish: I was absolutely out of control with my alcohol and drug use from the age of 13 to 20. I am now 21...
I was drinking massive amounts of rum daily, and cider and all sorts with periodic addictions to GBL, Valium and Opiates. I went through a year and a half doing mephedrone in huge amounts at least from friday to sunday, often more in the week. I've also tripped heavily since the age of 13.
I say all this because I want it to comfort you that you most likely won't have caused serious brain damage. You are young and brain is relatively new.
The brain is remarkable in healing itself provided you feed it what it needs.

From my personal experience, it takes me
at least 4 weeks to start feeling normal again, but can actually take up to a few months. Don't let this depress you if you feel it's too long....it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I had grand mal seizures from drug/drink abuse, last one being in February. I havent touched a drop of alcohol since Feb and I really only now feel a real sense of mental clarity.
Having a grand mal seizure (3 times) is imo, alot more severe than "waking up and feeling different" and I managed to get myself back on track. Im not trying to downplay how you feel because I know exactly what you're going through my friend, simply letting you in on a pretty comforting example of rejuvenation.
Essential Top Tips For The Road To Recovery
- Eat very cleanly. Your brain needs it badly. Base your diet on fruit and veg and nuts/seeds, eating lots of oily fish and drinking plenty of water. This is the foundation for all forms of healing (mental or physical)
- Exercise! Hit the weights/do cardio alot! Cardiovascular Exercise and Resistance Training has been shown to aid the recovery of cognitive function and even prevent Alzheimer's.
- Stay sober! Don't touch anything, not even a drop. Your brain and body needs sobriety and stability.
- Cold showers. Google "health benefits cold showers" and thank yourself when you do it. Trust me on this one. Relieves anxiety and depression to astounding degree's for some, boosts circulation, aids autoimmune function amongst many other things.
- Take Omega supplements (especially those focussing on substantial levels of DHA and EPA)
- Don't panic! Relax....try and de-stress. Try meditation - it's great for relieving stress.
You are still young and you can easily get over this. Just take it one step at a time, follow these steps for a month solid and come back then. If you are serious about it, then you will absolutely and religiously carry out these few tips. If your problem persists, find a doctor, but I say from experience that if you do these things, you can overcome a lot of your troubles.
2 weeks is a short time. Your age is in your favour.
