I started taking high quality L-Dopa in pill form (Velvet Bean Extract-L-Dopa 99% 800mg) with my various other supplements I take. (I'm into bodybuilding).

I have noticed that after I take L-Dopa I feel my mood to be more positive & my motivation is certainly above average. I am aware that L-Dopa converts into Dopamine, how it works on the brain and all that jazz. (I deeply research things before I put them into my body).

I was once prescribed Adderall, but quit taking it due to the fact that it killed my appetite. (Eating a lot is key in building muscle).

This L-Dopa I recently started to take seems to give very mild effects similar to a low dose of Adderall. The motivation, focus and overall sense of well being is there.
It is possible that my dopamine levels were low and this supplement aided in boosting my levels back up to normal, which may play a part in these effects.
Has anybody else experienced this with L-Dopa?

Correlation is not always equal to causation. I haven't taken it before but I was looking into it. Apparently it can help boost testosterone and dihydrotestosterone levels (raise them in those that are deficient). If you were taking adderal recently it is possible that your dopamine receptors were recovering. With heavy usage of amphetaminea or other dopaminergic stimulants, cessation of use and after the acute withdrawal period it can take time for your receptors to go back to their normal balance (homeostasis) and this can take 6 months to a year after they quit. Even if you didn't use it heavily there could be a little of this effect happening and l-dopa helping. But amino acids and such which are precursors to neurotransmitters will cause stimulation even if they don't increase neurotransmitter increases within the brain and just circulate in the periphery (acting in the periphery rather than centrally)
