Supermarket Salvia?

there is a local store in my town that sells salvia (sage) as a spice for cooking i suppose
should i expect it to do anything close to a trip or even a slight headchange
maybe id just use it like incense and hotbox a room and see what happens
any thoughts?

It would be hard to have a break through experience without smoking some sort of extract material I believe. Not saying you won't feel anything at all.

It's not the same salvia.

"Salvia" is the name of a genus of plants in the mint family. The salvia we all know (and some of us love) is salvia divinorum. The kind of sage used as a spice is salvia officinacalis

Salvia officinalis is cooking sage, its used to flavour poultry.

Salvia is indeed the name of a genus, there are plants labeled as Salvia you can buy at garden stores that produce beautiful flowers but are not S. divinorum.

Curiously enough sage oil can be up to 50% thujone by weight. But as far as I know thujone is not directly active.

The only psychoactive salvia is considered to be Salvia divinorum. Unless you're explicitly buying S. divinorum you shouldn't expect any psychoactive effects.
