Hey ask I have a question for the concentrate lovers. I don't live in Cali ir Colorado where wax is much easier to get. In fact there are so many people I live who don't even know what it is. Anyway I tend to like this one strain of shatter that is amber red colored, call applejack. As long as it is not above 90 degrees and you are it will snap or break into crystal very easy. I think it smokes better at least with a vape and lasts alot longer than pliable strains of wax. I opted for some redwood valley kush as it was the hardest available but still pliable. Happy I got it a it is blaze. Then there is this very sticky almost oil like type I come across that is so sticky I could not open it when a gram was sandwiched between wax paper. It was a lil darker made from bubba kush I did not go got for it cuz it looked messy unless I left it at home in the freezer. The guy has like ten types on hand and wanted to ask the community what is better the really stick shit or the kind you can dab or shatter in the freezer? I know they say that the strains they are made from is what makes it but I am curious. I would love the feedback all thank you and have a great day

Honestly it all depends. Some of the best stuff locally now is SUPER sticky resinous stuff that is like a clear golden yellow liquid. I have some grand daddy hash from a club that gave me the excess in the storage jar and some spots are dark and pliable while there are thinner areas that shatter. I think the pliable stuff either has butane or else they are pockets of plant wax and stuff. To conclude solid is usually better, but it doesn't mean high quality at all. Sticky also doesn't mean bad quality, but it is not the easiest to work with and should be avoided if its anything, but see through golden IMO.

You should practice your grammar, that's hard as fuck to read.

The consistency and color are based on the age of the material, as well as the process to make it. The relative hardness is more the choice of the extractor, and one is not personally better than another. Wax and budder can be the same quality as shatter as long as they are made properly. My personal preference is light honey pull-n-snap.

You'll get a darker color from trim or older material. Stickier if it's not properly purged or the material isn't cured all the way or if it's very humid when it's extracted. Very high CBD strains, like AC/DC, also don't make a stable concentrate (CBD is different molecularly than THC so the resin hards are more gooey). Certain terpene blends and strains also just tend to make a more sappy or sticky concentrate. Dark and purple strains will also make a darker oil, without necessarily being of lower quality.

When I used to get BHO on the east coast I'd avoid the really glassy hard shatter that tended to make the crystals you refer to, I felt that it never melted properly. A lot of the illegal market BHO is open blasted, in which case shatter will often have a higher PPM of butane, and a budder may be a better option, as whipping actually does help purge (test results have confirmed), even if the oil will go "stale" faster. Not that I condone open blasting AT ALL, I'm just aware that you don't have a range of options.

To sum it up, no consistency is necessarily better than any other, it's personal preference and what you'll be using it for. Just make sure the oil is purged completely, and then go for the most consistent color and most stable appearance.

Yeah sorry about my spelling I'm doing this in a mobile phone and the spell check sucks. Thank you for the feedback. So you are saying that if it is sticky like sap at room temp and it is not the golden oil you talk of, to stay away? the color was almost purple it was hard to tell as it was sandwiched in wax paper. I live in the east coast and from what I know and based on quality most if it is dispensary product. It seems that the good strains like blackberry kush blue dream etc Are this very soft type of wax, many you guys call it budder. Idk. But a gram is much larger than a gram of the super hard kind. It is super soft at room temperature pretty much have to use a paper clip or freeze it to work with it.Now im not stupid the guy c could be labeling the crappy messing stuff and saying that it comes from great genetics My philosophy with it is if it leaves any residue in the coil after vaping it is trash. I tend to find the super hard stuff vapes faster and leaves no residue at all. The kind I have now redwood valley kush is typical color light brown amberish color snaps easy if you freeze it for 20 seconds.
Btw I heard wipping it into budder cab oxidize your product therefore causing a potency drop what are you thoughts thanks peace ✌

This. Although everyone seems to be about their shatter, I can honestly say the best shit I've ever had was more of a 'snap and pull' consistency.

There's a relatively new process going around now which is live resin, which is essentially blasting the material as soon as it comes down. I personally think it's the best method as you really preserve the terpines and you get the best product in terms of smell / flavor. Most of the live resin I've seen hasn't been in a shatter consistency, but I'm sure someone has done it.

I'm also a fan of the fresh frozen, which again the concept is pretty much the same (trying to preserve terps). Cutting down the plant, immediately freezing it after, and then blasting that material.

To each their own though, just because one person has a preference doesn't mean it's the best. We all have individual tastes. At the end of the day you just want to have a clean product.
