Hello,
to your opinion, what are the best places in europe to get high this summer? I mean to spend the day swimming, sunbathing, and taking acids.
Vama veche in Romania, small hyppie style village in front of the black sea is a good reference, but I'm looking for new ideas.

Any help? :)

I dunno man, over in ED there is a discussion. Apparently sunlight kills your roll...

Tripping at the botanical gardens in Gothenburg, Sweden is amazing.

The Riviera! Depending on your funds and what languages you speak, Southern France, Italy or Greece all fit the bill. Oh, and Croatia! Cheap and gorgeous. I'm not a beach person, but if I were I'd pick Croatia. I love Romania, too, btw. Highly underrated. <3

Ooh, Morphling, that looks lovely. Might move Sweden up my list a bit.

Flicflex - how about Portugal? It's relatively cheap and sunny and decriminalised, and the surfing's good. (Also - any other tips on Romania? I've just booked a trip there for winter.)

Portugal is nice Swampdragon. Dusty built a lovely place to go and has some great folk. Get a car and go driving up to mountainy places but watch the slim roads and tractors or try Sagris? Forgive me if I'm wrong folk from Portugal. Just try not to do as I did and almost run over a German lass on a crossing. Lulz.

I'm not sure what it would be like in the winter but a few summers ago I went up in to the north of Romania, in what was Transylvania. It was unbelievably beautiful as well as incredibly atmospheric: plenty of dracula looking castles on mountain tops as well as weird ex soviet industrial installations. The town/city of Alba Iulia has some incredibly beautiful churches and so on- I was left literally speechless when I went in to the Orthodox cathedral. A very interesting, friendly and unsual country, and somewhere I'd really love to go back to.

Having said that, I spent some time with some Romanian students, and none of them seemed to have much of an idea about drugs and so on from what I could gather. They all loved to drink and smoke fags, but none of them had smoked weed before (I didn't ask it just sort of came up in conversation). Maybe I just encountered a very sheltered group, but I think 'proper' drug taking only really happens in large cities such as Cluj or Bucharest, or perhaps in some hippy areas such as the OP mentioned.

Love Sweden, spent several years there for Uni.

Romania is COLD and snowy in the winter! Be prepared lol

Spain or Portugal.

Great sun.Great drugs. great food. Great people.

(I've never been to Portugal, I'm speaking for Spain, but I thnk Portugal is similar)

I liked Transylvania the best, Odawakka gave a great description of the region. I was there in mid November and it was quite chilly but otherwise good weather, and not cold enough for snow. Sibiu is my favourite town in Romania, not well known or touristy either. It's a Medieval town in nearly pristine condition. Brasov is the largest proper city, and it's centrally located to check out Bran's castle and Castle Peles. The latter is an absolute must-see; the most stunning, well-preserved fairy-tale castle nestled in picturesque mountains. I'm obsessed with castles and have visited hundreds. It's the most beautiful by far, both inside and out.

Bucharest isn't really worth visiting IMO. I'm glad I didn't waste much time there.

Budapest is a chill city. A couple of years back, myself and a good mate spent a month travelling around Eastern/central Europe, half the time we had pre-booked hostels, but in cities I had been to before we kipped in sleeping bags. Budapest was one of such; there is a hill/park in the city centre, right on the Danube (on the Buda side iirc). Sleeping on the top of that, smoking some nice weed from our newly-aquired Slovakian pipes, under a blanket of stars amd city lights, during one of those balmy summer European nights.

Romania is nice as well, though I wouldn't feel safe sleeping rough there, at least not in a big city. During the same trip, we arrived in Bucharest by train. Before finding our hostel, we planned to get a feel for the city centre. Asking a taxi driver to take us there turned out to be problematic, he dropped us off at some shopping centre, arbitarily called 'city centre'. Shrugging our shoulders we had a jay in a park and went for a wander, only to stumble upon an abandoned power station which we happily explored. Ah, surreal stoned dazes.

Bratislava is another nice city, though staying in a hostel there after seeing the film of the same name is a little daunting!

EDIT: Skegness, thee town of lights and laughter!
