The calm,
Cool face of the river
Asked me for a kiss.

this doesn't reflect my current state of mind in any way, but i saw this poem and was just amazed by its clarity. You can almost smell the character's resignation to fate.
:)

I kinda like Phil Anselmo of Pantera's suicide note a lot more.
WOULD YOU LOOK AT ME NOW?
CAN YOU TELL IM A MAN?
WITH THEESE SCARS ON MY WRIST TO PROVE ILL TRY AGAIN!
Try to die again
Try to live through this night
Try to die again...

my third most favorite poet
only behind cummings and shelley
This sounds so simple, like a child's explanation for something they later got in trouble for---or, if one were religious, like an explanation to god..
:)

It reminds me of a river I've stood beside so many times. There is a place, on the Cherokee reservation, in the North Carolina mountains, where hundreds of years of my family is from. My mother took me there when I was a child, and told me many things. I knew that this is where we are born, where we love, where we die - all at the river, under that one lone tree. Thanks iceeie.
(Fizz: of course you are an ee cummings fan. Marry me?)

i liked them both. i'm adding them to my ever-growing collection of quotes that i've saved over the years.
