So I totally blow through my 60 10/325 in about 6 days each month. I tell myself each month not this time but it never fails. So here I am hoping someone can help me worth this. Feeling like shit 3 weeks a month just blows. Any help is much appreciated!

It's called tolerance and once your tolerance gets higher , you begin to abuse your meds.

Careful though...if you're taking 10 pills per day, that's a lot of tylenol on your liver, and long term abuse can cause health problems.

My suggestion is to speak with your doctor. Perhaps the hydro isn't helping your pain, or you need an increase. Just make sure you're legit in whats in your system when you walk in his/her door.

You can try dosing the proper dosage, that'll make them last longer, or cutting back on daily intake.

45mgs of dxm can help with tolerance and potentation(sp?) i just took that dose then in 45 minutes ima take 5 vikes i have been doing this for a while. how many are you taking at a time opiate?

I find the cimetidime method to help the hydro stay active in your system longer. Without going into extreme detail it helps your body break it down slower allowing it to be active longer. It is available OTC and about 600-800mg does the trick for me. Now don't expect an extreme reaction but it cam help. Don't beat yourself up about it either. Some of us seem to metabolize medications faster, tolerance tends to build faster and we end up in your situation. There is also a thread about opiate potentiation that you might find useful. Link below. Good luck. I've been struggling with this for a long time too. Feel free to PM me with any questions or advice seeking.

Thanks for all the replies. I am currently trying dxm to lower tolerance. I have been taking 30-60 mg of dxm per day to see if it works. I took 5mg of hydrocodone about an hour ago and it has me feeling nice. Hopefully this will work.

Cimetidine and white grapefruit juice, man. Both about an hour to 45 minutes before the hydrocodone. Works wonders. I never take any opiate without them now.

I never got much from white grapefruit juice and cimitidine but dxm is awesome. Just 5mg has me feeling like it's my 1st time ever taking it. I'm going to try all 3 when I get my Rx

OP, if in any way or form 5mgs hydro has you feeling "good", I cannot stress this well enough,- sort out your abuse issues before you end up in my situation!!

Check my threads/posts, don't play with fire!

PM me anytime.

Ps: benzos & antihistamines

Well I love that I can once again get some relief from 5mg of hydrocodone instead of 20mg. This will drastically help me with stretching my Rx.

I've actually read some reports where pain docs have their patients take dxm with their opiates to keep tolerance down and help fight addiction.

^Id keep quiet about using (or even hvng knowledge of), dxm if you're in PM.

I don't know about fighting addiction, but I regularly have subcut ketamine as an inpatient.

For pain as well as tolerance issues, but it's never, even at 1000mg over each 24hrs, allowed me to reduce my opiate intake.

Keep your doses low dude, & you'll be doing yourself huge favour down the track.

Yeah that's what I want is to keep it low. I'm not seeing a PM doc I get my Rx from my neurosurgeon. I've thought about seeing a pm doc but I'm scared he'll take me off my norco

Yes. Many PMs are becoming increasingly anti opiates for chronic pain.

New research apparently supports the notion that pills are not indicated for ongoing use.

Wtf is this world coming to ?

Indeed lol. Sad to say if I ever had to I'd buy em off the street. Sad that it might come to that.

It's been almost 48 hours since I've had any opiates and I feel absolutely no withdraw at all. I guess the dxm helps with that too. This is amazing.

How quickly did you go through your meds this month? I assume that's why you haven taken anything in 48hrs?

How long have you been getting them scripted?

I have a feeling I got into dxm too late in the game. I drank a bottle of robitussin (in split doses), one day I was withdrawing & don't think it did a damn thing! (Remember I'm highly tolerant to ketamine treatments, not your average drug dabbler here).

Oh, the days of having a few days off opi's & then getting that first pill in again ?

Blew through 1200mg of hydrocodone in 2 weeks lol!!!!!!! Before dxm took like 30mg to feel it. Dxm took my tolerance down kinda quick.
