Let me tell u guys withdrawal from shooting 400m of oxy a day is no joke!!! I switched from iv to oral use to taper and switch to sub.. I went down to 200mg oral and still had the worst stomachs cramps and puking all day... I couldn't even dose more cause I kept puking!! I can't wait 24 hrs to take sub cause how often I was ivn about 60mgs every 2 hrs all day... Most my other symptoms weren't as bad except extreme stomach cramps and massive puking?

I havent eaten in 3 days If I wasnt drinking I would've def died from dehydration

Has anyone else had to taper b4 switching to sub
 
Tapering before switching to sub is quite common. It isn't mandatory, but the lower the dose of your DOC you are on, the easier the transition and lower the dose of sub you will require. The half-life of oxy isn't very long, though, and since you were IVing I don' think you need to wait 24 hours to dose sub. 12-16 hours should be fine. Once you are in substantial withdrawal, is when you know you can dose sub. The only exception is methadone, due to the incredibly long half life.

I would wait 12-16 hours after your last dose of oxy, then start with like 1mg sublingual to test the waters. Go from there. Preciptated withdrawal, while no fun, seriously only lasts about an hour and then goes away once the sub can take over a bit better.

I will probably end up merging this with the mega thread, but I will leave it here for a bit since your question is semi unique and will just get lost in the mega thread. I'll let it stand for a while and see if you get any helpful responses, and then merge it later on.

yeah man if youre puking youre sick enough to take sub. like said start small with a half mg or maybe 1mg at a time.

ive popped a mg 7 hours after dosing like 100mgs oxy and was fine.
 
I wasn't able to taper before going onto Suboxone. If I had more heroin I would have just used it at the same rate.

However tapering off the full agonist at least partially before going over to Suboxone is quite common. I am not surprised at your level of withdrawal symptoms, but I also know that this is temporary and will start to pass for you.

When you get on Suboxone, going from 400mg IV a day , to 200mg oral per day, then to Suboxone (or maybe getting down to a little below 200mg orally per day first then to Suboxone) will help out a lot.

How is it fine for him to take suboxone? Not only has it not been 12-24 hours...he is literally still taking oxy. There is no possible way there will not be oxy on his receptors.

Some people give the dumbest advice.

If it were me, I would tough out the withdrawals cold turkey for 30 hours then just dose instead of tapering and dragging out all the bad feelings.

I switched to bupe from 80mg methadone which prob translates to more than 400mg iv oxy. I used dope for 4 days, waited 36 hours, and dosed bupe, instant relief (though it took a few days to adjust..maybe a week).

Yeah. 400mg oxy iv is a substantial amount, so there's no doubt your withdrawals are nasty. Making the transition to a maintenance medicine or total sobriety is rough, no doubt about it. But the truth is, any tapering you DO succeed in doing, will make the transition that much easier.

There isn't an exact number for how many hours you need to wait until you can dose suboxone. You just must be decently sick in order to do so. Most doctors recommend scoring AT LEAST 6 on the CLAWS withdrawal chart, but some prefer even 10+.. But you are on a high dose, so I am sure withdrawal comes soon. The half life is very short though, so 24 hrs isn't necessary I don't think.

In my experience, when I was doing oxycodone I would dose my suboxone about 14-16 hours after my last dose. Same thing with heroin. The only drug you REALLY need to wait a long time is with methadone. THat is why when going from methadone to suboxone it is a good idea to use a short acting opioid for a few days prior to dosing sub.

It is unlikely that you will precipitate withdrawal, as long as you wait 14+ hours and are substantially sick.
