TDS Suffering from protracted benzo withdrawal and don't know how to live without opiates

Protracted benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome most certainly is not "just in your head." It may be for some, but that is hardly the case in general, and is quite insulting to insinuate that those whom are sharing their experience of said syndrome that it is more than likely a somatic disorder. I've long since completely recovered from what was a relatively short stay in benzodiazepine withdrawal (3 months), and have moved on, but do remember how it felt. It is a real syndrome.

burn out- It is good to see you around. However, I am sorry that you had a relatively long run with heroin again. I would say just force yourself out there, and whatever happens, happens. I was kicked out after not working for 17 months, and eventually got back to a good place once I adjusted to the new stresses of going to work, school, etc. It took a good 2-3 months until I settled in, though depression set in. That requires a new strategy. Exercise helps, sorta, so does finding a s/o to an extent. I think that is something everyone deals with to some degree however. Some drink on the weekends, some cheat on their spouses, some take pharmaceuticals, some take up hobbies, some work out obsessively, some do it all. However, its usually never quite enough. Feeling satisfied with oneself is one of the hardest parts of life. It is doable, but it is transitive; in which case you try something different, to maintain some essence of novelty. Feel free to pm me anytime man if you're bored, it's been a while. :)

I never even implied that benzo withdrawal was "all in your head", but the anxiety it's used to treat is a mostly mental issue that can manifest itself physically, the rebound anxiety can however, make the physical symptoms of benzo withdrawal much worse...The whole fight or flight adrenaline release thing...

I think benzos and methadone are the poster children for PAWS! I would never tell anyone that it was all in there head when it comes to those two drugs!

My gripe is that PAWS has come to have such a broad definition in the substance abuse field, its often used to coerce people into treatment for long periods of time for things like occasional marijuana and alcohol use....

I wish people would actually read the threads....Of course I went completely off topic, but at least read my post completely if you plan on posting back to bitch at me.....

What makes you think I didn't read your post? There is no need to be defensive, and there is nothing necessarily negative about disagreeing with you. There are some parts that I agree with, particularly that there are some people that have developed an obsession with observing their current state of being (which I alluded to), and such an obsession has brought about a somatic disorder resembling a cluster of symptoms associated with a protracted withdrawal syndrome. However, you do neglect that down-regulation of "benzodiazepine receptors" can be protracted. Some are more susceptible than others to it. I really wish people weren't so presumptuous.
