do you think rolling while suffering from anxiety would make the anxiety worse?

For me, it makes my anxiety better. I have social anxiety though... which is weird... huge scene, lotsa people.... well the mdma helps, but doesn't take it all away.

The stimulant fx could make it a lot worse, but the social anxiolytic fx could make it better, its a bit of a 50/50 toss up, no way for us to know how you would react

Have to agree with this, Iv'e severe anxiety, and rolled many times some good some not so good. Although i personaly wouldnt advise it, The best advice i can offer from experience is that it better be REAL fucking clean, anything other and you are asking for trouble. This question may be better answered in basic drug dissusion as TDS is a bit on the no triggering posting sort of line, but that upto mods to move @ thier discresion. If in doubt dont do it:\

In me experience, while you're rolling (if the anxiety is socially based) the anxiety will be reduced. Afterwards though, it comes back with a vengeance.

This isn't really a TDS topic though, so I'm going to move this over to ED.

^this.
during the comeup the anxiety might get a little worse, but IME soon as the roll kicks in the anxiety is absolutely gone. and like Dave said, after its over it comes back with a vengeance :(

Same here. I have anxiety and MDMA gives me a chance to "get rid of it". It also seems to lessen for the next couple days after my MDMA use. But then I go back to normal :(. Aha.

Sometimes the come up or even just BEFORE I take the M, I get super anxious. Like, on the way to a club or something, or just before I take it, my stomach clenches, I get so ridiculously worried, even though I know I'll have an amazing time as usual.

Pretty much everything everyone has said so far is pretty spot on. If you are using ecstasy once a month or more, then eventually your anxiety will get worse overall. When I first started using it, I was an every weekend thing. Sometimes twice in a week :S. While on some good mdma, anxiety should be a thing of the past, for a few hours that is..

Yeah sure MDMA is going to most likely help with your anxiety WHILE YOUR ON IT......I can tolerate pretty much anything when its working and Im high.
But could possibly make it worse LATER ON
Especially if you get into the habit of it.

Ive never had anxiety but years of moderate MDMA use gave me a nice little case of it! I usually get the panic attacks 4 or 5 days after the dose. Theyve gone away since I cut down though.

STOP!

I never had anxiety before i took mdma, and i have now been suffering with it for 4 and a half terrible months.

In the short term, MDMA will definitely reduce any anxiety you might have. That's why people like doing MDMA.

In the long term, it could go both ways. MDMA does have the potential to make you "think different" and live a more productive life, however, I feel that you also need something other than MDMA to keep you on the right track.

The biggest issue is that you will start self medicating on MDMA to make yourself feel 'alright'. This will only make your anxiety worse.

I am an experienced roller and I have had anxiety my whole life. Yes, during the roll and the couple days after my anxiety is better.

But, after that during the recovery process my anxiety is worse. This is when I used to roll once a month though, now that I roll 1-3 times a year tops, it really does not affect my anxiety in a better or worse way.

So, as a person with anxiety, rolling once a month really fucked up my anxiety levels. Taking a year off from rolling, and then only rolling once every 4-12 months, does not seem to have a negative effect on me.

I've rolled enough times over the last five years though and I am now 25, I don't really feel a need to do E anymore. I can't say I won't ever do it again if the right opportunity comes about, but all things considered it's just not worth the risk and I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I used to.

Yea i get angry when people give lame answers on this forum. Rolling does not fix your anxiety, the process by which it works almost always raises anxiety levels once the roll has worn off. You may be a little less socially anxious but that doesn't really last ime. Serotonin and anxiety are strongly correlated, a worn our serotonin system or damaged one (if you roll often) will almost always = a more stressed and anxious person. Proceed with caution

I never meant to imply that rolling by itself can "fix" anxiety. I think if done correctly (in controlled environment, with a mental health professional or someone who knows what he is doing), it is possible that MDMA can have lasting impact on how you see the world.

And all "negative" emotions/feelings such anxiety, depression stem from the fact that we let ourselves see these issues as problems. If you let go and just accept that anxiety (or depression) is just a part of your existence, then you're not really suffering from anxiety anymore. It is what it is. The key goal to solving your problems is acceptance.

Temporarily mdma would relieve anxiety .

However its possible that 7hours later you will be an anxiety mess

I never really knew what anxiety was until I had rolled about a dozen times.
Then there was Serotonin Syndrome - which could be described as the most MASSIVE anxiety attack possible by ANY human being.
It is so powerful, that some people DIE from it.

Coming up on MDMA sees an 800% increase in cortisol levels.
Dopamine also goes up, which is related to anxiety issues.

After rolling, the loss of serotonin function can cause anxiety in some people.
But interestingly, some people do experience relief for these few days - a sign that their serotonin network is causing anxiety most of the time.
By lowering the network activity, relief is felt.

In fact, rolling itself is a practice in lowering serotonin.
Sure, it spikes first - BIG TIME.
But then, it falls off.

It is after the 'peak' that the real 'magic' begins.
So the lessening of anxiety from rolling, whether in a normal person or not, is likely due to a DROP in serotonin.

But it won't stay that way.
When it starts to come back, many people describe mild fluctuations in mood.
A minority of us develop SEVERE anxiety, leading to depression or psychosis.

If the MDMA dose is high enough, or repeated enough times, it is believed that it causes the entire network to 'reorganize' itself - leaving higher cortical regions with lower density of innervation.

Doesn't sound like a great idea.
But there is no reason to assume that a REASONABLE dose (100-150mg) of PURE MDMA would cause such 'injury' - even in a person with anxiety.

But you should DAMN well expect a rebound effect that is rather difficult.
Count on it.
