Hi OP, some of the causes of Tinnitus are head or neck injuries, ear bone changes, ear wax blockage or high blood pressure but usually, the main cause is commonly due to inner ear cell damage. Tiny hairs in our inner ear move in relation to the pressure of sound waves. This will trigger ear cells to release electrical signal through a nerve from your ear (auditory nerve) to your brain. Your brain then interprets these signals as sound. If the hairs inside your inner ear are bent or broken, they can leak random electrical impulses to your brain that is causing tinnitus.

I would suggest for you to visit a doctor to get checked up as to what the cause of your tinnitus is including mentioning certain medications you are currently taking etc. Good luck and I hope it wears off soon.

If you feel pressure in your ear along with tinnitus then it could be something as simple as a blocked eustachian tube. Have the common cold or congestion recently?

Might also be worthwhile to get your blood pressure checked as BP spikes are another common reason for tinnitus.

We could speculate endlessly but at the end of the day a proper in-person diagnosis is needed.

Wow I never knew that.

I wonder if that's why when experiencing anxiety my tinnitus gets worse because of the heart rate increase/blood pressure change.
