I was wondering if anyone could help me put together a little list of some of the research that has been done into the success rates (treatment retention, rates of relapse during and following treatment, etc) of abstinence based inpatient programs used to treat substance use disorder.
Generally abstinence based treatment modalities employ some variation on the 12 step model of recovery, but I'm not only interested in studies of 12 step methodology. I'm more interest of studies documenting any kind of abstinence based treatment.
The consensus seems to be that the literature provides the most support for a successful rate of 3-10%, but I'd like to put together a list of resources that support (or not) these.
Anyone know of any sort of meta analysis on this area of research? Or any studies related to it? Thank you!
