So fellas, i've been on the subs now for about 2 weeks. I went to detox about 16 days ago. Here has been my dosages (the first 5 days are at detox)
Day 1: 10mg
Day 2: 8
Day 3: 6
Day 4: 4
Day 5: 2
Day 6-16: 2mg/day (usually) 1mg when i wake up and 1mg late afternoon
I am about to start OUTPATIENT tomorrow, and get scripted suboxone there. I am curious as to whether staying on 2mg/day for a little bit longer will cause the LONG TERM suboxone withdrawals everyone talks about, or whether that is ONLY A RESULT OF BEING AT A HIGH DOSE/LONG TERM DOSE
I would like to get off of them sooner rather than later to avoid this. But would 2 months of 2mg (split up) every day cause those hell long withdrawals? I've done the calculations and theres basically 2mg/sub in me every day (counting in for BOA which people seem to forget. when i put that 2mg subutex under my tongue i know only roughly 50% gets absorbed).
Any suggestions guys? Would staying on it another month taking 2mg/day sublingually be THAT terrible? Will it cause those month long withdrawals I hear talk of?
More importantly: Is my brain RESTARTING endorphing production as we speak? That is to say, is being on such a small amount of subs no longer TOTALLY saturating my opiate receptors and allowing my brain to BEGIN producing endorphins again? This has been my goal. Take JUST enough so that i'm not shit out of luck endorphin wise, but NOT TOO MUCH so that my brain doesn't start producing them while i have been taking the sub. I know if iw as taking, lets say, 8mg/day, my brain would still not be producing endorphins naturally. BUT! Is giving myself such a low dose allowing my brain that "breathing room" so to speak?
I just am trying to get my brain to BEGIN endorphin production by not taking a ton of bupe. I am hoping i am achieving my goal. I would imagine that is the problem with long term (4month+) suboxone plans (along with the long half life): your brain is STILL saturated with opioids. I am trying to give my brain just enough synthetic ones that I dont freak out an relapse, but NOT ENOUGH that it doesn't start production on its own.
Am i accomplishing my goals? Am I better off not even getting them at the clinic and simply using my last 4mg of subutex to finish my taper? I honestly want the bupe as a safety net (i fear relapse since im in the same environment), but if its going to simply prolong the time i need to get better, then i'd hop off now.
Any help is great, thank you all very much bluelighters. I had 3 years of opiate abuse under my belt, the last 6-12 months (or so) being exclusively opanas (about 40mg/day most of the time, obviously days i could get more i did, but the last few month or two probably 80-120mg/day on average; thats a LOT for a lean guy like me haha). I know my brains endorphin production is fucked, which is why i didn't just want to jump RIGHT OFF after i got outta detox. I FELT like i could've, but i think that was my brain just tricking me again while my brain was saturated with the subutex.
EDIT: Btw i'm trying to go to outpatient either way, whether they give me subs or not (just wanted to find one that did both so insurance covers it vs 350$ cash for a private suboxone doctor), i'm also going to NA every day, got a sponsor, etc, so i'm doing a lot of the work guys. Ya i'm taking it easy, not doing a ton at home, etc, but as everyone keeps telling me i need to put not using as #1 priority. I know some NA guys would consider it "cheating" or w/e, i dont. I'm actually doing what the doctors told me to do (for once...). To me, not using illicit drugs is my goal. If i've been clean from opioids, cocaine, mdma, everything (i did take 2 hits of weed one night after i got punched in the face lol) is what i'm doing, then im darn proud of that and idgaf what anyone else says, my clean date is still the day i went to detox.
