I have been on suboxone for over a year and 4 months ago he switched me to subutex due to my insurance was charging me 600 a month and subutex was 50 a month, I recently had a slip and started using once a while and was able to take subutex still and get high every couple days with still taking subutex daily or minus a day where I used. I had a bender of a week with acetyl fentanyl and now I'm trying to get back on my subutex and I waited til I was in full blown withdrawals and nothing still making me feel terrible. I waited 48 hours until I couldn't take it anymore and broke down and went out and bought another bag of heroin. I'm scared cuz I need to get back on my subutex or even get back onto suboxone but it's just making me go into full blown reverse withdrawals no matter how long I wait. I would take 2 mg or 4 mg every 4 to 6 hours to see if it would work, but nothing so now I'm back on heroin and desperate to get off it. Plz help !!

A very common culprit is Methadone? Have you been using methadone? That is a full opiate agonist that stays in your system for a very long time.

With any other opiate 24 hours should be plenty of time to wait, Ive waited much less and had no problem. The only time I have sub send me into withdrawal was when I had been taking methadone for a couple days woke up the next day and injected 2mg of suboxone, it was very bad immediate withdrawal, lasted about half an hour.

But to answer your question unless you are taking methadone or some long last opiate (oxycontin, opana er for example) oxycontin is controlled release so they could stay in your system for a while if they are the rubber ones, same goes for opana. If none of this aplies to you maybe its possibly you need to take a higher dose of the subutex, or maybe you are alread taking too much and thats whats making you sick. How much sub are u taking? 8 mg should be plenty but if youve been real heavy into stuff maybe try 16mg. Im sure you dont want to tell your doctor about all of this. So just be careful when mixing opiates and usng suboxone, the back and forth between the two is always mentally stressful to me.

Rule of thumb is if you are in withdrawal you are good to take the sub. I re read your post and think i saw you were taking 2mg every 4-6 hours? Thats weird. Suboxone should be dosed.once daily at a higher dose, like 8mg. I would suggest that.

Besides not waiting long enough the only thing I can think of is you must have been taking extremely high doses but waiting extra long should fix you.
