subutex is pretty much unavailable here. I can get it in one clinic but its only a trial there so it requires daily dosing with no chance of takehomes or any leeway in the near future. I have applied for this clinic anyway but I think it will be unsuitable for my needs as I work and dont like to be tethered to one city. At least with methadone i could get weekly takeaways but i dont want to go back on methadone.

so I am thinking of contacting a gp up north. how is subutex normally prescribed like this in the uk? obviously i wont qualify for NHS being a citizen of the "freesstate".

my health insurance might cover it.

do ordinary gps prescribe subutex or do they have to have special licences? how frequently would you have to see him for a prescription, and how often do you have to go to the pharmacy to pick up the script. how much does it cost?

if anyone has any information about private healthcare and addiction/drug treatment please post it here or contact me by pm.

thanks a lot.

you would not believe how hard it is to get proper treatment in Ireland. Even if you are willing to pay for it. Once opiates are involved nobody wants to know.

i am currently going to a case worker and then a doctor in january about getting on subutex, i might be getting ramped up as im seen as a dangerous case because of my past use. hope it pulls through but if not then i will have to try for methadone or cut it cold as im getting more and more sick, how long have you been on opiates trypt?

i could give you contact info for the place i go or ask next time im in for info around your area if you want to PM me it?

i am also going to DOT (drug outreach team) in belfast who are a great help and credit to HR, friendly people so im sure they could help as well

as far as i know, subutex is dispensed from certain authorised pharmacies, from a window just like 'done

some people get take-homes for sunday if its closed but some open on sundays for the sub patients

I live in North Wales in the UK. And here we are prescribed suboxone through our local Drug n Alcohol service - usually you have a key worker who makes an appointment with a doctor who subscribes the suboxone. The doctor who prescribed my suboxone is a psychologist n knows his stuff. I used to have to pick up my suboxone daily but now they let me pick them up weekly, which is best.

What I've basically told you is my experience - they may do things differently in different areas of the UK. I hope this helps in some way n all the best.

If you are desperate enough go to France. I am visiting currently and just went to the first doctor I found and said I was sick from H WD and they nearly immediately offered me free 'done. Ended up requesting to pay for the subutex instead but still very very easy and quick as well as cheap. The "consultation" was free then it cost about 30 euro for almost 100mg in 2mg pills at the pharmacy across the street. Mind you I am not from this continent at all and was not required to answer any questions or provide any id. Sounds crazy I know but it is the truth, I was so mad I hadn't gone and tried earlier after it was all done. Took maybe half an hour total and also the lady doc said she could provide a month's supply at a time, so maybe could be worth the trip if you only have to do it once a month. You will have no problem not being a citizen of the country, the dr said I could have been an illegal immigrant without papers from the middle east and would have received the same exact free treatment. I was extremely impressed with everything about the experience and am feeling so much better! Let me know if you need any details however I imagine this is how it goes in all parts of the country.

edit: It may be difficult to initiate things without being able to speak french. I had my gf come with me to help me get in then the actual doc spoke english.

I never got prescribed subutex cos i was taking RC Opis that didnt show up on their test and i tested negative. So i had to get my own, for better or worse. It was for worse. :o Id find it insulting and demeaning to have to go and collect it daily, so in a way im glad i never had to do that. If i'd got on a managed and supervised taper it might all have been over by May 2013. Things turned out entirely differently as i had to acquire my own, i found that i really enjoyed bupe, and was abusing it for a few months, until it became clear that i would bankrupt myself if i carried on like that, so i started tapering, i actually did all the hard work and got down to zero, held out for a week, but kept relapsing every week or so, and id get back on the bupe or poppy pods for a day, and then try again to hold out.

Ive just had about a fortnight back on it, but that has to end, i havent got enough left for a comfortable taper, but my doses havent been high, its gonna be more of a short sharp shock to stop this time round. Except Ive got some kratom, I hope to be able to hold out without using that as it will just prolong my recovery even if it would make it easier, ive tried the taper method before, whichever method you try at the end of the day you just have to stop, if that is your ultimate goal.

It does vary from area too area and which drug agency you will use but for my area once you have a place on the books with the drug agency which you can get refered from doc or do yourself thier doctor offers subutex, methadone or short course Britlofex. With subs and meth they do a 12 week stable dose period then a 12 week reduction which I wish they did when thy left me on methadone for 9 years. I think this service should be easily acsessed and avaliable to everyone. The turn around times can be shocking as they can only take on so many and nost are DTOs.

Hey Trytamite dude, I was just wondering this very same thing lately but couldnt really find an answer on the net..its ridiculous in Ireland that we only use methadone!! I thought about it but I don't think I need it now as I'm not taking gear every day so my withdrawals dont tend to be very bad its more the cravings and inevitable turn back to gear that im worried about..It would be great to just have some subbies to hold onto but you cant even get take homes for months as far I was able to tell so this would be no use as I wanted to take them on holidays with me in March or maybe May

Yes it was about five months before I got weekly take- homes n a few months before they let me take home every two days. Also bear in mind that some doctors ask for urine sample. Mine I had to do every time I saw doctor.

Sorry you are unable to get suboxone in Ireland. That really sucks.

The turn around times can be shocking as they can only take on so many and nost are DTOs.

Turn around times ? You mean the time from people finsishing these programs to the time they relapse and need them again ? Or each person is only given a 4 week taper or something ? Or somethig more positive ? There really does not seem to be adeqauate support for "afterwards" when you've got off it, and feeling low as fuck and theres no support, what are you gonna do ? Fucking relapse is the correct answer. In a very large number of cases. There doesnt seem to be properly joined up thinking here. You would think it would be obvious that someone will need just as much support, if not more, once they have finally quit the subs or methadone. Whats DTOs ?

I have been researching subutex prescriptions in france. it does seem to be fairly lax. you can be prescribed 28 days worth of subutex at a maximum daily dose of 16mgs. do you think if i was honest with the gp and told him or her my intentions to bring the script back to ireland with me this would be a problem?

ideally a month of 16mgs would last me 4 months as im sure i could get by on 4mg a day. a trip to france once every 4 months would be far more realistic than going over every month.

Rocco if you have any more information regarding subutex in France could you please pm me or post it here. for example which city in france did you visit the doctor in? did you tell the doctor that you were living in France (were you??).

I need to sort something out ASAP. I do not want to take heroin everyday. It is ruining me financially and i no longer have a job or income to fund a habit. I simply want a medicine that keeps WDs at bay and allows me to regain stability in my life. subutex works far better for me than methadone as it is less sedating and i seem to be more clear headed on it.
I need to find another job and i would like to go back to college in September. I am sick of relapsing and WDs and the disruption it causes to day-to-day life.

Yes this is all true. I am 100% serious. I do not live here and I did not hide anything from the doc. I did not have an appointment, I was not charged for the visit, and they only have subutex here no suboxone, and yes they are able to prescribe for up to a month at a time. I literally was in and out from asking for a consultation to putting one under my tongue in about a half an hour.

It was truly amazing, where I came from there is no chance of even seeing a doctor within a month of request. If you are finally selected to see someone you are required multiple visits, evaluations, and drug tests before any prescriptions will be written. The French model of opiate addiction treatment is one that must be experienced to be believed. I was literally asked no questions about why I used or what my plan was to quit. The doc genuinely just wanted me to feel better and let me choose my preferred method of treatment (methadone is given out for free whereas I requested to pay the fee for the sub script). I hope you are able to make it down here and get some help I guarantee you will be happy you did it and, like me, will probably regret not coming sooner as this practice has been around here for ages as I have found in my research. I suppose some of this laxity and lack of questions and long term plans may have been because I said I was only here visiting for a short while, I can not be sure how they will respond to your situation. If you think it may be a problem you could say you moved to france and don't have an address here yet. They did not want any ID from me so I could have been from anywhere and living anywhere as far as I can tell.
