I'm 13 months into a subutext program. It helped me kick a dope habbit and actually keep clean. Seemed to put the ice in yhe cravings also. Ans I'm the type to crave it, nit just H but almost anything, somthing ton set my mind at rest i don't know how to explane. About 5 months ago I started injecting it multiple times a day. Its problematic. I I traded heroin for subutext. I ran out a few times and the withdrawls wernt as bad as dope but still kept me unable to funtion for the 4 days until I filled. I'm tappering dowm each month and nearing the time where my doc is going to bring me off. Just wondering if anyone has, if you tapper down correctly u still withdraw? Anyone still experience drug cravings..just currious what its like afterwards. I want to be clean. I'm just so used to taking somthing daily..

It will be about a year of slow withdrawals that just seem to be so much more prolonged then heroin withdrawals. Some say its 10 times worse than methadone and some say it's not nearly as bad. It all depends on the person really. If youve been taking the subutex for over a year then coming off won't be fun I can say that. I've been on 0.3 mgs every 6 hours for a year now and trying to stop is very difficult I've always gone back to it. I know a guy on here who got off it and said it was a year of torture where everyday you just find it so hard to function and get depressed all the tine. The shitty thing is if we had just taken it for a week to detox off heroin while we tapered off then stopped we would have hardly any symptoms and would have been totally detoxed off all opiates.

I went into detox for heroin quite a few times and they start you on 8 mg a day then do 6 the next then 4 then 2 then 1 then 0.5 then you jump off and then for about a week you only feel a little anxious and a few stomach issues but nothing too bad at all then your good the hard part is dealing with life sober which is why people relapse so much (including me)

Fuck. I am weening down slowly little by little not a fast wen down then stop. Would what u said still be true if I'm doing it this way?

i feel ya man! i've been on subs for a while nnow, but i will be getting off pretty soon. i go to almost daily na and aa metings, and work the 12 steps, and have a sponsor to talk to annytime day or night. also,i have about a hundred friends from up there who have all been through some sort of nightmare. i don't know what i would do if i didn't have this group to help me with any issue i need to talk bout. i also drank 2 bottles of wine a night, so i definitely qualify as being alcoholic as well. some ppl have a problem with the whole "God thing"....the way i look at it, all of us who were using drugs, were looking for something outside of ourselves. you know, seeking something, to me i was always looking for a spiritual solution, and i found it there at aa, not in a bottle of pills.
any way you look at it, de-tox is tough! staying clean and sober can be a motha, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. at least with a support system, you don't have to do it all alone! peace to ya, hope it gets better!

I'm just wondering if I can avoid most withdrawal symptoms if I have a slow drawn out taper of Suboxone possibly over the course of months. I have only been on 4mg for about a month now and just want to know if it is possible using this method of tapering to get off completely without ill effects

I would definitely take your time with the taper. From experience and from stories from the docs, around 2mg is where the taper starts to get difficult ( that's about the lowest they will do before completely stopping. I'm not going to lie it still really blows but if you plan it out right (it sounds like you are) you can power through it.

Suboxone is tough even with a taper. That final jump was too much for me. Found out about ibogaine. It was a wild trip but got off Sub without any withdrawal. I didn't know as much about other "comfort" meds then. I should have only used the Sub short term but I was on it for several years. That makes it real tough to cease. My mistake. For me the withdrawal was bad even after a taper to .5mg and then jumping. Read stories about others being in withdrawal for weeks. I am too much of a puss for that, hence the ibogaine solution. Good luck.
