hey there, i'm new and i've been searching for an answer for a question, cannot find anything to satisfy my inquiry. so my question is this: if one rarely takes suboxone (i've taken it about three times, i like the feeling every once in a while) how long till you can feel high from opiates like hydrocodone, oxy, morphine etc? it's been about twelve hours since i took an eight MG suboxone, i imagine it will be a good 24 hours before i can feel anything from an opiate but i'm just craving it. i take a lot of pain pills, and i usually take some around this time. should i just wait it out till tomorrow? or could i possibly get a feel good going from some hydro 10's? i'm sorry if this has already been answered, i can only find answers to people who have been on suboxone for a long time, i just use it once in a great while. if anyone can give me some helpful advice it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Hey pleasure_is_relief, welcome to Bluelight!

It looks like you're taking Suboxone recreationally, you'll find many people on this board (you did pick the right forum, Other Drugs, for your question, by the way) that use subs recreationally, people who are using it for opiate detox or maint. therapy, and some people who are using it for a mixture of these things, I am one of those people.

Anyway, it should take between 12 and 36 hours depending on your individual tolerance to buprenorphine (the opiate in Suboxone) and opiates in general to feel the full effect of whichever "traditional" opiate you're taking. You can take traditional opiates while still feeling the effects of the Suboxone, but their action will be severely attenuated, although, from reports I've read that doesn't happen for some people. Just make sure you're not taking the traditional opiate and then the Suboxone, as that will send you right into withdrawals, not fun.

I hope this helps, I use buprenorphine but I'm not the resident Other Drugs experts in it by a long shot, maybe one of those guys will chime in.

Also, be sure to check out the Suboxone/Buprenorphine Mega Thread and FAQ v12.0 (it's also here in Other Drugs) for lots and lots of information and experiences in regards to Suboxone and buprenorphine in general, as well as a FAQ.

Also, just so you know, this thread may get merged into the Megathread.

Again, welcome to Bluelight, we hope you stay here past this question getting answered, if you're into drugs, drug culture or pretty much anything else this is a great community and we would love to have you as a part of it.

thanks!! that was the information i was looking for. i just took a few hydros with some tums to help absorption so we'll see what happens. i held off as long as i could, i was getting some mild WD feelings, maybe it was all in my head... who knows, so hopefully i'll get a feel good and make this go away. i will most definitely stay; i've browsed the site on and off for a while now and the information has always been quite helpful, this was the only thing i felt i needed to ask. it's good to get advice on what you're putting into your body.
