Suboxone Taper

Okay. so I've been on Suboxone for about 2 years now (for heroin addiction) and I'm really tired of being on it. I want to change my life and I think getting out of my opiate dependence is a good place to start. I have 13 subs (8/2 mg strips) and I usually take one a day. I want to know what the best way of quickly tapering off them would be. I'm almost certain I could get down to a half with little or no problems (cravings or withdrawal symptoms) as I've done it before and haven't had a problem. My problem tends to start when I go down to about a quarter. That's when I start to get some cravings. I know that I should consult my doctor and all that. However I really don't feel like he's too concerned about getting me off these things. He's making a good amount of money off me per office visit, and I don't think he'd be too upset with me having to see him for the rest of my life. So I really just want to do this by myself. I understand at the end of the taper there will be some discomfort, but I can handle that. I just want to know the best way to minimize my withdrawal symptoms.

I would taper the best you can off the sub, but go buy a big bag of Kratom and take however much of it you can handle/enjoy.
IME its MUCH easier WDing from kratom than Suboxone or H
Hope that helps. Good luck!

every time before you go down in dosage you first have to let your body stabilize to the new lower dose. So even if you can go down to 4mg i wouldnt suggest it. Go down to 6mg first and stay on it for 2-3days. Then go down to 4mg and do that for 4 days. That leaves you with 8-9 subs left. Then once your body is stable on 4mg which would take at the very least 4 days, start going down in smaller increments and stay on each new lower dose longer and longer. So 3mg for like 8 days, then 2mg if you can handle that. If not, 2.5 or 2.75. Its better to taper slower when you get to the lower mg's. The whole idea is you want to have at least half your subs left for the 2mg a day part and after. Once you get down to 1mg, an 8mg strip lasts 8 days. Think about that. I wouldn't jump off until you are at at least 0.25mg a day or 0.5mg and able to skip days. Good luck. You can do this. Subs are magical if used for short to medium duration tapers. I hate that your doctor kept you on sub for so long. Thats what methadone maintenance is for. Subs are for tapering to get clean in my opinion. Their partial agonistic nature allows that perfectly. And guess what, doses of 4mg and under actually have a higher agonist receptor activation. The higher doses like 8mg and above, sub starts to become more and more of a partial agonist. I have done the research on this science to back it up but right now im going thru a hellish fentanyl detox so I really dont feel like getting into the science of opiate mechanics. Yesterday was my first day and I had to do 32mg just to get partial relief. Today i feel a ton better on only 16mg. And tomorrow i could probably go down to 8mg. Thats how rapid subs are meant to be detoxed. Especially the higher the dosage. At lower doses it become little more difficult to taper. Like I said get stable on 4mg a day first and then small baby steps from there. Let your body adjust to each lower dose. Which takes at least 4 days with subs in my opinion. Good luck. You can do this. I know its not going to be painless but detoxing is never completely painless. It reminds you why not to do opiates again.
