I wasn’t a long time opioid addict. It was just some heroin for about a month. My doctor still put me on suboxone for my cravings and I’ve been taking 2 mg for the past day or so and I’ve only taken two 2mg tablets in total. So far it’s made me incredibly sick and sleepy. I’ve slept pretty much the entire day and when I’m not sleeping I’m dizzy and nauseated and vomiting. Is this because I didn’t use for long enough? Does your sensitivity to suboxone increase or decrease depending on how much you’ve used?

A couple of possibilties spring to mind.

How long were you off heroin before first taking the sub? If it was not long enough, you may have been put into precipitated withdrawals (very unpleasant indeed).

How much H were you using in that month and what was the ROA (route of administration)? I ask that because it seems a little strange to prescribe subs for just one month of use. Did you doc give you a one-off small script to help you get past the H withdrawal? I hope so because it'd likely be easier for you to just go through the short WD from the H than to get stuck on buprenorphine. Bupe is very hard to get off after extended use.

If you were only taking small amount of heroin and the route was anything other than IV, it may even be possible that daily 2mg of subs is too much for you.

Whatever the case, I hope you feel better soon.

My last use was a week ago but before that it was 3-4 weeks ago. During that month of constant use I mostly snorted it but I smoked it occasionally and it was maybe about 20 mg give or take. I never dabbled into needles. I was put onto suboxone just to stabilize myself until I can get proper therapy, so the subs were pretty much a short temporary thing.

I spoke on the phone with my doctor and I was pulled off the meds. Took me about a full 24 hours or so to feel normal again. She thinks it may be a sort of sensitivity to it and that my dose was too high, so pretty much the same thing you said.

Thank you for your reply and kind wishes !!

Damn. That's a crazy low dose and time frame to go for maintenance first thing.
Bet you my next paycheck that doctor gets kickbacks for it. Did you try just going without the subs? I totally get cravings but they sound like they're doing more harm than good.
If you feel the need to have some opioid in you, a lot of no tolerance folks can get genuinely fucked up off .5mg of subs. They're crazy potent, but nothing like fent because of the partial agonism (and likely much lower binding value).
Also, yeah, it could be pwd but if it had been a week between doses I doubt it. You probably just underestimated their potency.

Yeah no reason to take subs right now. Just stop with opioids and you will be ok.
I agree… sounds like your sub dose is too high. Most people (doctors) dont realize how high the morphine equivalent is for buprenorphine. It’s about 1mg buprenorphine = 40-60mg morphine. All dope is different strengths but if it actually was real heroin I think that’s about 1mg h = 2-3mg morphine. Anyways that’s a long winded way of saying I think the subs are way too strong but I could be wrong and I also don’t know how much dope you were using. Also subs are incredibly hard to kick. I jumped off from 16mgs of bupe

I tried Subs twice years ago (8mg, I think) and deeply regretted it both times. It was like the worst hangover ever.

I had a pretty high tolerance to opioids at the time too (300+mg of Oxy a day), but I couldn't tolerate that stuff at all.

Yeah I first tried subs with over a decade of opioid daily use and I ONLY TOOK 1-2mg and I was pretty buzzed for sure I imagine if I took..say 4-8mg first time I would had gotten hella nauseous and sick. Yeah he dosed ya too high

I've been on bupe daily for 8 years & it still makes me tired/sleepy as fuck every day. Way more than heroin or any other opioid ever did.

Putting some one on Suboxone only after a month of heroin use should be considered negligence.
If you didn't have a hefty opioid habit before, you'll have one now. And the withdrawals from bupe lasts much, much longer than heroin withdrawals.
