Suboxone prescription seems high

Hi. I'm new here. Please be kind. I've been prescribed 20 mg oxycodone per day in 5 mg tablets for a few years. So, 4 tabs a day of 5 mg oxycodone. I wanted to stop and check pain levels without any meds, being tired of this feeling. A new dr said he could help if I used suboxone 8 mg, 3 times a day. I tried 2/3 of one and have never been more prepared to die.
What is the recourse with this dr? I mean, this is clearly too much, no? I was done taking any meds for 3 days before trying suboxone and was hoping to get rid of some irritability. He said to be sure I was only done for 12 hours and start it. When I called to see how I could stop the effects of suboxone, he seemed irritated that 3 days had gone by without me trying any. Thoughts? This was all yesterday and I'm still quite ill.
 
That is WAY WAY WAY too much even if you were shooting it. 2mg of subs is more than enough if I were you I would start with .5mg morning and afternoon and take another .5 right before bed if you feel antsy. I don't know why DOCs think subs are soo weak they always give people WAY too much of that shit. I was eating a shit ton of kratom everyday and .5-1mg was more than enough for me. I wouldn't have dreamed of taking even 4mg at a time.

One time I gave 1 mg to this one retarded kid (he actually was retarded but on a forrest gump level not like all the way) cause he wanted some. I didn't think nothing of it but he was throwing up for 8+ hours...I'm talking bad. Good thing is he went back to his weed-only routine and he never asked me for pills so maybe I saved someone from being an addict. Or maybe I near bout killed a retarded kid. Probably a little column A little column B.
 
Yeah, that's way too much. The most you should need is 2-4 mgs. per day. The good thing about being prescribed more is you can stockpile it. Bupe actually feels a lot better at lower doses(less is more).

This. I was able to stockpile a years worth of bupe in 3 months one time cause the doc was writing 24mg a day.
 
How long till I feel better? Am I going to have w/d from this med's high dose?
I never want to take any other pill in my life.
 
How long till I feel better?
Will I feel withdrawals from this one dose?
Did I speed up or dampen my detox?

Acute oxycodone withdrawals will last about a week. You will start feeling withdrawals roughly 36 hours after your last suboxone dose. You haven't done anything with one dose of suboxone to make your withdrawal better or worse.
 
Thank you! So if this process was started last Thursday, by this Friday, I shouldn't anticipate anything more to happen?
 
Ummm, yes espcially for 20mg a day??? Did I read this right, he put you on 24mg a day for a 20mg a day habbit, and was pissed you were not taking the whole prescription?? That's crazy and seems like he was just trying to get you hooked on Subs if thats the case and should have his licesnse taken away.
 
These doctors don't seem to have a single fucking clue about buprenorphine or the amounts necessary for different tolerance levels. Either they are completely ignorant about the problem they are treating or they have some sort of incentive to fill their patient quota which is actually likely. There is a limit of 100 patients or something and if they get them all hooked and on a high dose they keep the maximum amount of money rolling in guaranteed for years.

They are just hurting people this way, causing more damage to the opioid receptors and ensuring that their patients will have a lifelong issue with opioid addiction. This is morally reprehensible and I read about it all the time. Boosting your tolerance up this high will cause suppression of various hormones, kill your sex drive and drastically alter your priorities in life at the same time.

If you want you can probably take 2mgs the first day, 1mg for a day, 0.5 for a day and then jump off with minimal discomfort.
 
Once you're clean you might want to report that Doctor to the medical board. If you hadn't been so astute he could have caused real problems for you, and he probably has to other people.
