I started out with 2mg Suboxone pill daily for 7-10 days until the withdrawal symptoms are gone.

since using 2mg suboxone daily for 10 days for opiate withdrawal it worked great for getting me clean But Weeks later I still can not get hi when i take opiates. Even weeks after not taking Suboxone. Please can anyone shed some light on why this is and even better if I can reverse this effect or how to get hi again. I do not plan on being an opaite addict again but I really need for oipiates to work again for me for occasional use.

My tolerance has skyrocketed after suboxone use.
The suboxone is out of my body. I have waited weeks now.
5-10mg oxy used to make me feeel great before and now after suboxone was implimented it now it takes 30-60mg oxy to do the work of wht 5-10 used to do? How weird is this. Pelase anyone i'm desparate for an answer here.

thanx

I don't know what dose of suboxone you were using (or the frequency of dosing) but its quite possible that since you were on a small amount of oxycodone to begin with, the buprenorphine raised your tolerance significantly.

The only way to reduce your tolerance is to not consume opioids for a considerable period of time (months versus days/weeks.)

^Yes that is a very low dose of oxcodone, at least in comparison to buprenophrine.

Suboxone in a much more potent opiate than oxycodone in the scheme of things (mg for mg). So it is only natural that you now require 20-40mg of oxycodone to achieve a similar high and pain relief.

While you feel like you "can't get high on opiates anymore," this is not the case. You just need to make sure you haven't taken any suboxone in 48+ hours and need to take a higher dose accordingly.

What dose of suboxone were you taking? Often people are prescribed or take more bupe than is actually necessary, which will raise your tolerance considerably. You either need to severely lower your dose of bupe or stop taking it for some time. Or just stick with the suboxone and accept that when you decide to take a "vacation" and use oxycodone you will simply require a larger dose. This is not all that bad if you think about it; instead of taking oxycodone every day and being dependent, you just take it occasionally with a slightly higher dose... and 20-40mg is not that large of a tolerance yet I wouldn't worry.

--I have just started a suboxone maintenance program myself, just 2 months ago. At about a month in I had a few oxymorphone IRs lying around from my final prescription and decided to see how it would feel. I stopped taking the bupe for 48 hours and shot 20mg.. it felt nice, although the effects were severely dampened. I only enjoyed it because it was "something" and was a nice few minutes break. The point is that now you are on suboxone, trying to get off of opiates and you just have to accept that its not going to feel quite as good anymore.

wow that is a low amount of oc's. at least 20-40mgs work for u bc I thought you were like I was and oxycontin actually stopped working for real like last year, I'd iv 60 oc 80's in 2 days and not ever feel high and was shooting h and pharms so i wasnt blocked by subs. I was on suboxone for 5 years with a 6 month break. i was on a high dose.

When i have used pcp analogs, and methoxetamine, these nmda-antagonists, it completely lowers my tolerance and can even stop my physical addiction. This year i iv'd the new OPs and felt high from them.

ya you was getting high on a really low dose of oxy compared to most people..but i dont know how much suboxone you took but im pretty sure thats what raised your tolerance like someone else said maybe you should just quit for a while

If you took 2mg of Suboxone a day to come off of a 5-10mg (per day) Oxycodone habit, there's your answer. Buprenorphine is potent; in your situation, taking 2mg a day to simply provide relief from w/d symptoms is major overkill. You raised your tolerance by doing so. You probably could have gotten by with 0.5mg or 0.25mg a day... maybe even less than that.

im surprised he even got wd's only taking 5 - 10 mg a day, not sure why but i went from percs to heroin in about three months time (daily IV use starting with the OC's) and NEVER got sick (there were times i went 4 - 6 days w/o anything) untill I moved back to NYC and started doing china white, and I got wd's for the first time 3 days after starting on the china. my roomate during those first three months (who was an ex heroin addict) was completely baffled that I wasn't getting sick when I had no money or couldnt get for a few days.

since then no matter what opiate i do, if i do it 3 days in a row i get wd's

I'm gonna close this since it's pretty old and thoroughly answered. Mr flowers, I don't know where you find all of these old threads...
