Hello! I'm a newbie. Hope I'm not covering previously chartered ground here, but I was able to get off suboxone fairly painlessly and thought I'd share what I did.
I stopped at 0.5mg and then took 60mg of loperamide (after having read here on BL that it was a narcotic capable of eliminating opiate WD's) the following day and - wham - the withdrawals went away and I felt a very dirty, Darvocet like high. I then began lowering my loperamide dose by 2mg each day, and after 2 weeks I found I could go two to three days between "doses". I lowered the dose all the way down until I was taking one pill every three days - about 45 days post Suboxone. Then I stopped taking the loperamide and was happy to see that I had avoided 95% of the withdrawals. I had been able to sleep at least 6 hours a night every single night during the taper with nothing more than Benadryl. I also found the PAWS to be not nearly as crippling as they had been in the past.
So, if you can keep the discipline with the loperamide, I think it is a great way for people to avoid Sub WD's, and, perhaps, ease up on the PAWS.
Just my two cents!
(and yeah, the constipation from the lope was bad, but not as bad as poppy pod tea or codeine, imo)
