Suboxone induction

Just wondering if anyone has knowledge of a somewhat painless way for me to get re-inducted on Suboxone. I had been on Sub for 8 months, but got off to have surgery. The surgeon put me on oxycodone for pain. Now I'm ready to go back on the sub, but am not looking forward to induction again. I must have a slow metabolism, because last time I went a long miserable 24 hrs, and thought I'd met all the criteria on the cows scale for induction, but went into full precipitated withdrawl and spent an ever worse other 24 hours waiting to get inducted again. I'm wondering if I can get on Tramadol for a couple of days and then just induct myself. I've read alot of posts on here of people who use the two together with no problem. I just DO NOT want to go through the precipitated withdrawl ordeal. The surgery and recovery have been traumatic enough, and I don't want anymore suffering. I really liked the sub. I was down to 2 mg. and it worked great as my pain med, anti-depressant, and anti-short opiate addiction drug. I hate these oxy's and they make me nauseated as I have such a high opiate tolerance that I'm having to take about 16 a day! Not good for my liver with the tylenol etc. I would really appreciate anyone's knowledge on the tramadol switch plan.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Tramadol is one of the few opiates other than FENT that I know of that you can take with suboxone, before or after I believe. I would take the Tramadol for like 3 days, then start on a LOW dose of sub to make sure you don't go into precipitated W/D's.

Does anyone know about Tramadol and Suboxone interactions ? Can Sub put you into W/D if you're on Tramadol?

Yeah, tramadol and suboxone can be taken at the same time, before, or after each other and it shouldn't cause precipitated withdrawals. I recall a few people on here being prescribed both at the same time.

Ive been on Buprenorphine for nearly 2 years. I started on 32mg a day to force off a 400mg oxycodone habit. If you are taking oxycodone tabs ( percs I imagine ) ...just don't dose for 24 hours on the oxy and take a low intial dose of suboxone. I was told the same thing about the withdrawls..but truth be told you can take an 80 while disolving buprenorphine simultaneously...the only thing that is going to happen is the buprenorphine will fight the oxycodone off the receptors as buprenorphine is something like 10x stronger binding affinity to the opioid receptors than the oxycodone. Anyone who is on a routine suboxone regiment can take any opiate and not worry about withdrawl...the docs tell you they will put you into "instant withdrawl" to keep people from using...Its a scare tatic. If you are stabilized on buprenorphine, you can take whatever you want.

Not sure if I want to do this

At 0615 tomorrow, I can leave the house for my induction appt. My eyes look like black marbles, I'm flushed and covered with this stinking sweat. I know I can't use, however, in such pain & illness She would embrace me with all of Her love and comfort. I can't believe that I will voluntarily take a drug which will erect a barrier against Her. I also know that unrestrained use will drive everything from my life.
I whisper to Her, "I am doing this for You. I need to resume creating, dancing, & seeing as much as I can of this lovely world in order to be of use to You. Accept this illness, which I willingly undergo, as proof of my love."
One recording has provided a brief but necessary respite over these past 3 days, a powerful, clear recording of the adhaan (Call to Prayer), recorded at the Prophet's Mosque in Saudi Arabia. The potent, perfect tenor voice and the beautiful melodic phrasing drives everything from my head for a precious 3 minutes. I'm Catholic; although many composers have penned shiningly thrilling versions of the Mass, this very brief recording is so concentrated in its power and prayerful intent.
This will be a long, long night.

suboxone after vicodin??

Hey, this is my first time to this forum. Ive been searching the web for the last few days trying to find an answer to my suboxone question. I was addicted to opiates for many years as a result of something happening to me that left me pretty emotionally messed up. As im sure is similiar to all of your stories. However i did get clean 3yrs ago and have been on suboxone the past 3yrs...16mgs a day. I take the film strips as well. I stopped suboxone a week and a half ago because a week ago i had surgery and have been on pain meds this past week. I have been in alot of pain, so i never really got a high off the pain pills...thank god ( i was worried to take opiates again, i dont want to get addicted again). But we all know how when we are truely in pain the pills work as they should and any type of buzz is pretty much not existant). Anyways, i took a total of 3 pain pills today, they were 10/325mg vicodin. Now i want to start my suboxone again soon. Because this past week ive experienced withdrawel symptons starting within hours of taking a pain pill. The hot and cold chills primarily. Esp mornings when i wake up, since the last pain pill i took was around 10pm the nights before. I dont know if this is because i was addicted for so many years to opiates, or because ive been on suboxone for 3yrs. But my question is will it be ok to take a suboxone tonight? I have read many messages of situations where it was a bad idea and people were sick all night. But i have also read messages of people being ok. So if anyone out there has experienced what i have and been through this type of situation, could you please help me? Its almost 7pm and i have a field trip for my daughters school tomorrow, so i dont want to wake up feeling awful. Im hoping to hear taking a suboxone tonight will be ok. Thanks for listening

Hey there, welcome to bluelight!

I would keep taking the vicodin until your pain is gone, then wait until you are in some pretty serious withdrawal until you dose your next suboxone strip. It always depends on how long it will take, but if you take it too early, you will face withdrawal.
I would also like to advise that since you took a break from the suboxone, you should definitely try and lower you dose. 16mg is very very high, even though your doctor would like you to believe otherwise.
There are tons addicts with serious habits on this forum that have been able to lower their dose to 4mg or less and feel just fine.
I mean, for the first few days after you get off the vicodin, sure, take 16mg of suboxone, but after a few days, try and cut down to 8mg. Then 6mg. Then 4mg, etc. I once took 16mg a day and now I'm down to 1mg a day. I feel a lot better, I don't feel the side effects as much (urinal retention, sexual incompetence, constipation, etc), and I actually kind of get high off it. It's amazing, and I feel you should give it a shot

Thanks so much for your reply. I started my suboxone this morning. I didnt want to be on vicodin anymore. But i feel ok now, no withdrawels or any bad side effects. I do have one more surgery in 2 weeks but im not going to take any pain meds. Its not worth this flip flopping. As for lowering my dose..i agree with you and think its a good idea. Ive been on it a long time and i think its all mental at this point. I just dont want to relapse so suboxone in a way is my security blanket. But i havent experienced any problems with suboxone. Some days i do take just 8mgs and been ok, and have never experienced my sex drive lowered. I can say my sex life with my boyfriend is amazing. Then again im only 31yrs old and ive been with him 2yrs and its the best of my life. Prob because i was married before and sex felt like a job. Im sure alot of woman can relate to this lol. But thanks again, and i will definetly start lowering my dose
