Suboxone how to protect teeth

Just started on subs and my teeth already hurt after a couple weeks . Is there ways to protect the lower teeth like covering them so they are not bathed in the saliva / sub mix? Or any ideas. One lady told me to dissolve on my wrist but am afraid to waste the strip . Anyone try that ?

What I always did was roll the film up and stick it in an empty gel cap and just swallow it. You only get about 1/3rd of the dose as normal but they overprescribe subs so much. Just take a higher dose than normal and swallow in a gel cap. Tried and true in my experience

I don't know how i missed this ! What a great idea !! One question though... my doc told me to spit after dissolving to prevent nausea. I do that ,it still get a little nausea anyway. Would it be worse if I swallow it? I think that useless Nalaxone makes people nauseated.

In this day and age; can't they just have a pill?
I think they do ,but they want you to dissolve it too. Lol 😆 you got a point though. In this day and age you would think they would get on this ASAP especially since there is no doubt this stuff is ruining teeth and even causing mouth cancers. They are making billions of dollars can't they use some of that to research a better delivery system?

I’m not sure. There’s really only one way to find out. I think having the horrid taste of chemical oranges sitting in your mouth could be part of the nausea tbh. I definitely think it’s worth a shot. You have nothing to lose lol

For me yes 100% -- I remember when I was in college Id snort an Adderall now and than and if those flavors mixed I was heading to the toilet. Just two very strong very fake orange tastes was one too many-- normally I got an iron gut too

The films have been recalled for dental damage - you can probably just tell him you read that and don't want your teeth ruined and ask for pills.

Which aren't much better but you know -- more control over em kinda. Could dissolve it in water and drip it up your nose?

as they should. I’ve literally never met a single person in the recovery community or elsewhere that has both been on subs for an extended period of time and also had teeth that were not completely destroyed. Putting them in a gel cap and swallowing them always just seemed like common sense to me yet anytime I told someone about it they acted like I just discovered fire (big exaggeration but you get my point) I talked to a dentist that I had at one point and told him about it and he was like wow that is an interesting idea. He said how awful they are for your teeth and how many horror stories he had witnessed. He told me he couldn’t officially tell me it is a good idea in case it ended up melting my organs or something but he kinda unofficially said that it wasn’t a bad idea if it works

Does't bupe have darn near a 0% oral bioavailability which is why you gotta do the tongue thing in the first place?

I will check --- Buprenorphine has a very low oral bioavailability of approximately 10% to 15%.

sorry bout the typing it got stuck lol -- higher than I thought it was honestly

Yeah, so if I’m not mistaken the BA of bupe is like 30% when taken sublingually so swallowing it is about 1/3 as strong. You just have to take 3x more and since they literally give you like 3x more subs than anyone would realistically need that kinda solves the problem

You are not incorrect and they tend to over prescribe it --- good catch!

Do you know if the pill version still has the naloxone? Is there even a reason for the naloxone? I heard that the naloxone causes the nausea and thats why we are supposed to spit it out. Its confusing. I am going to ask my doctor next month.

They have had a that orange 8mg octagon(i think) suboxone tablet but even that is meant to be sublingual or at least i thought...never was prescribed and now about 6 years later still fighting to steer from not only it BUT opiates/opioids in general, I have not quit nor taken a real break in so so long. It's been tough it's stolen some teeth, and I tapered down from about 4-5mg a day to in the last year 2mg- .03. I COULD just swallow some dosage and try to be somewhat equivalent to the taper regimen(i should just search quick but I think oral is like 1-3% bioa, intranasal is 50%, and sublingual like 90-100% bioavailability..?)
but goddamn it feels good to skip days now from subs, until it doesn't and need it or something..but yes I decided I need my teeth and started snorting 1mg for like fucking months, then .5 and now .3(tiny lil bump) and i try to skip days and try my hardest not to use a full agonist on a skip day/week--snorting sux but its also great for the taper because its knocking like 50% of the bioavailabilityso this is a plus and dental health is a must!.
But probably much better to do this with sum saline mixture be nicer on the honker. Or if looking to taper a different roa and best is most likely volumetric dosing.

1%-3% Seems to be what I remember to and that was just an A.I overview

You should search it. 15% is like half of 30 --- sounds a little high to me but I don't know because I believed them and wouldn't dare 'waste' one as now I am tapered down to what I need

The naloxone was thrown in as an "anti-abuse" measure so you do not inject them -- however they did not put enough in to really do anything.

Some people say they get headaches/nausea from naloxone and generally the Subutex costs a little more on the street -- I think it is all mythos personally.

The common street belief where I am is that Subutex DOES NOT block opiates because it doesn't have naloxone in it! (The power of placebo be with them)

I think he meant an oral pill. But Yea there are several brands of buprenorphine pills around. I always hope for the hexagons lol

Rinse out your mouth well with water after taking. A good fluoride mouthwash twice a day.
I hear this all the time. Anyone on subs is doing this . The doctors and directions say it. Still you got this acid bath in your mouth for at least 15 minutes. Rinsing after the damage is done isn't helping much unless maybe if you are young with perfect teeth to start.
