Bupe Suboxone help

Hi Bluelighters,

I am scheduled to start Suboxone this Monday for a 9 month 300+ Oxy habit. I have a few questions that I would live some help with if possible:

The required withdrawl period:

I am going to do 24 hours prior in order to avoid any chance of PWD. I have never gone more than 6 hours without at least some level of bare minimum pills (15-20 mg for minuscule "relief") so naturally I am both scared and stumped as to how I am going to make it through 24 hours. I am intentionally running 100% out if everything before this so that there is no chance of cracking. I am going to take my last 80 mg of oxy Sunday morning and withdrawl until my appointment at 9am Monday morning. Is that too long/not long enough? Thoughts on this schedule. I want to go the absolute least amount if time WDing will still eliminating any and all risk of PWD.

Is the first 24 hours the worst in oxy withdrawl, or I think I heard day 2 or 3 is the worst but I could wrong? If the latter is true then I guess that's somewhat encouraging as I only need to do the initial period.

I don't know if I just have a very low tolerance to pain or if my body is unusual in this respect, but at even 6 hours, I am wishing with every cell in my being for anything to make it stop, it's that bad. I have a feeling it's going to be horrible, just getting to the point where I can take my first Suboxone. I am looking for any tips and advise on how to get through this 24 hour period.

The facts:

- I have this 24 hours and the following day off of work and the house to myself.

- I have roughly 8 mg of Lorazapam and 10mg of pure Xanax powder

- I can get any/all OTC stuff this weekend before it starts.

- I have a ride to the clinic so all I have to do is get in the car.

Some ideas I have:

- drinking alcohol. I am considering getting either a bottle of tequila or jäger or something to drink through this, hoping it will numb out some pain, or at least make me not care as much about what I'm going through. (Note: I am aware and careful with mixing alcohol with benzos)

- I have a hot tub. Ive heard this is good, though when I'm WDing I can barely get up to make it to the bathroom, getting in and out if the hot tub on my back porch seems like it will be tough

How should I ration the little amount of benzos I have, save them for the night time when I am guessing it will be the toughest? By the time night falls, that will be far and away the longest I have ever gone without oxy. Add that too the depression and panic of being alone in pain at night.

I think that's it, if anyone experienced would give me point by point advise on all this stuff I've mentioned above, I would be eternally grateful!

Thanks

I don't have enough experience to help with your questions, but I'd make damn sure you don't have to take a drug test at the doctor's if you plan on taking benzos--unless you're prescribed them.
Notwithstanding that I'd wait until you begin to really get bothered by sickness before taking them.
Best of luck.

Thanks... Actually I have a prescription for the lorazapam but not the Xanax, I'm not sure if they show different on the test. Thing is, this being my first dose at the clinic I'm pretty sure that whatever I test positive for at the initial visit doesn't matter as much as subsequent visits, which will affect how fast I get my take-home doses. Once I'm stabilised on suboxone, I don't plan on using benzos at all. At this point it's simply to help with this initial WD.

is there a better place to post this to get some more responses? Sorry I am relatively new to the board..

Anyone??

I'm a little confused, did I do this wrong?

I am dealing with this in just over a day and could really use some comments/advice please!

You are worrying way too much IME. Just take the benzos as needed for the 24 hours then transition onto bupe. It's really not that difficult man, just don't go into with a negative mindset that you will feel withdrawals. Try and stay busy for 24 hours to keep your mind off of WD, which should be minimal. I've done the same twice, and I honestly had no problem going 24 hours without opiates while getting on bupe.

You'll be fine. Uncomfortable, yes. At day one your head is going to be your biggest problem. Most of the bad stuff wouldn't kick in for a day or two after you quit.

Go the whole day sober and save the benzos for evening and night time. I would stay away from alcohol. Its horrible at reducing opiate WD. Xanax will the life saver you want.

OTC shopping list:
loperamide - eat as directed or double dose. Don't chomp down 50mg.
Diphenhydramine (benadrl). Great sleep aid.
Multi vitamin d3 is big one and your body has depleted it long ago
Gatorade- electrolytes will be great

All of that is safe to take with benzos.

Sorry if this post is horribly formatted. Writing it from my phone.

Go to ya, post with any more questions

You are over thinking it. Because you're stressing. Which is perfectly understandable.
Wait 24 hours at a minimum. I would go 24-36 before I took my first dose of Sub. Anything less than 24 and I would be in absolute fucking misery.
Not everyone goes into PW's, but this being your first time, it's smart to wait.

First 24-48 hours are bad. There's nothing that's gonna make you feel normal. You've just gotta regulate it.
The benzos will help. Don't stress on setting a dosage schedule. When you start to feel shitty, take a moderate dose(I hate Ativan, so I'm not gonna recommend a dosage). 1-2mgs of Xanax. Wait a tick. See how you feel.
Feel a little more comfortable, good. If not, take a bit more. Do save a decent dose for bedtime.

Again, you're not gonna feel good. The benzos will calm you, take away some of this stress. The stuff Larc recommended will help. I hate Benedryl, but it really works for some.
Clonidine can be a lifesaver for antsy, restless legs and achy muscles. It's a scripted drug. If you could get some doses it will help.
Use the hot tub. Hot water distracts your mind and takes away some of the dirty, clammy feeling that accompanies WD. Try to drag yourself into the shower for a proper cleaning, too. At some point.
Do not drink alcohol. Alcohol dehydrates you first off. That's just the beginning of why it's a bad idea.
Everything that's normally moderately bad tasting when sober tastes like pure dog shit when you're in withdrawals. For example, toothpaste makes me wretch.
So, imagine how that hard liquor's gonna taste. Not too good. No. I would puke. A lot.

I feel your pain. For sure. I've kicked dope many, many times.
Withdrawal sucks. But it's not going to kill you and you will get through it fine.
Don't give in to the person in your head telling you how much better you could feel. You may say there's no fucking way you'd do that, but those thoughts will be there.
Just ride it out. Bit by bit at a time. Watch movies, read, try to keep your mind busy. Once you burst through the rise to the peak of discomfort and start to turn the corner and feel better, you'll be happy you did. Good luck.

I'm just reading this for the first time right now, so I assume you already did you're 24 hours and saw the doc. But why didn't anyone recommend some DXM? It's absolutely great for opiate WD and potentiating, it's rather fun and distracting, and it doesn't show on drug tests. Dextromethorphan is so closely related to all of the opiate's chemical structure, hence the reason it works so well as a cough suppressant. Also I would have recommended Kratom--I'm not as surprised that no one mentioned that as well. For future reference, Kratom is a partial mu opiate agonist, also wouldn't show on a drug test. You can get it legally and right to your door next day. I'm so sorry I didn't get to this sooner, and I hope your WD and transition isn't going too bad.

Grand Touring

Actually it hasn't happened yet, Monday morning is the time. I have been slightly tapering down my dose last few days, and saved the final 40 mg for Sunday Mornin lg before starting the 24 hours of WD. I'm hoping this is enough?

Last night i did a test run and went 14 hours without oxy. At the end, I was in full body pain, lethargy, painkc and depression, all that. I figure another 10 hours on top will be good, no?

The reason I saved the Sunday morn dose is because when I wake up I panic beyond control, and doing that without knowing that shortly I will have relief might be too much to handle

People have said not to use the benzos, either because I might get denied at the clinic (unlikely, I'm in Canada...?) but also be wise it might affect my COWS score when they assess me at the clinic. Thoughts on this? I would really like to be able to use the be spa tomorrow...
