Opioids Suboxone Causing Illness (not related to W/Ds)

So this is really strange and I can't find any information about this online. First off, I've never been addicted to opioids but I do have a high tolerance due to prior high-fat potentiation. I've used all types of opioids infrequently in the past but never to the point of addiction. I don't have any chronic diseases as far as I know and I've never shot up anything in my life.

Anyway, I've been using Suboxone once or twice a month out of occassional boredom for the past 6 months. I had used it infrequently in the past couple years, but it never affected me like it has the past 6-8 times. Everytime I take a strip now, I reliably get cold-like symptoms within a couple of days. It's always the same illness: fever, sore throat, weakness, and productive coughing. Nobody I've talked to understands why this happens. I can't imagine you can experience W/Ds after one time use, I'm honestly not addicted/a frequent user, and I have no desire to use anymore opes. I've read that opioids weaken the immune system, but I find it hard to believe that I've re-infected myself with the same illness month after month.

Has anyone ever heard about anything like this? Could I have some underlying disease that I'm more susceptible to after taking suboxone? I'm definitely going to stop taking any more opioids but I'd really like to hear some possible explanations from you guys. Thank you.
