There's mu receptors in the gut as well as the brain. When taken orally, naloxone doesn't cross the BBB but can still cause other unpleasant symptoms in some people. However, a lot of the unpleasant side effects people report while taking Suboxone, are endemic to buprenorphine itself.
Subutex doesn't get you any "higher" than Suboxone, and most people don't notice any difference, regardless of ROA....but the reason naloxone was added in the first place was to deter IV abuse.
