Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

Hey fellow bluelighters.
I have an easy and fast question i believe.

Didn't take any Bupe for aprox 2 days, then today i shoot 20mg oxycodone.
(Have been eating Tramadol forlike 2 weeks)

I just took one shot of 20mg OxyContin today at ~1600 (Swedish time)
When can i take my Suboxone again?

I don't want to become sick for having oxycodone left in my system... that sucks.
 
Well, if you would have read any of this thread you would have seen that you should take your Bupe whenever you start feeling withdrawls (or about 24 hours after your last dose of whatever)..
I'd be careful though. I'm sitting here typing to you in precipitated withdrawls although I waited over 24 hours and was in w/ds. Wait as long as you can.
 
Suboxone: specific questions about tolerances and shit.

I UTFSE, found a LOT of answers to my questions EXCEPT for these ones:

I tried Suboxone for the first time last night-- snorted 1mg bupe at 1AM, then about an hour later I snorted one more 1mg bupe off of an 8mg tablet, and another 1mg an hour later.

I have a few questions...

1. Does the naloxone enter the brain at all with any ROA besides injection?

2. Before this following binge, the last time I did opioids was a 2-week H and Oxy binge about 50-60mg H and 40mg Oxy a day and ended 3 weeks before with one week of mild withdrawal. Two weeks later (last sunday October 25th)--- I have taken about ~30mg of BTH on Sunday, ~50mg Monday, ~50mg on Tuesday, and ~50mg Wednesday, and then 60mg Oxycodone (too much- nodded too hard and felt a bit nauseous) on Thursday. I started having slight-mild withdrawal on Friday night, and then yesterday (October 31st) the only symptoms I had were normal cravings, slight anxiety/depression, rare rhinitis, and chill/goosebump spells every 15-20 minutes until about 9pm when it all stopped except for slight anxiety and maybe 2 chills for the course of 3 hours. At 1AM I snorted 1mg, then at 2AM I snorted another mg and around 3AM another 1mg. I got somewhat high... had nods for about 5 hours, and today I feel analgesia, no depression, no withdrawals, no cravings, and that somewhat cloudy opioid feeling all day and a slight headache.
Q: Since I have some tolerance to Oxy and H, will this recreational use of Bupe cause my tolerance to opioids to increase?

3. Someone told me that Subox will actually help my tolerance to Oxy and H to go down.
Will it? If so, Is it the Naloxone or the Bupe or the abstinence that does this? Keep in mind I felt recreation and sporadic nodding from the Bupe last night.

4. In the past, my tolerance has gone down pretty efficiently on its own after cessation of 4-5 day binges of 20-30mg Oxy a day. This is my highest milligrams of H and Oxy binge, yet, but not the longest amount of time. I was jsut being stupid and using higher than I needed doses to re-up my high, which was pointless since it doesn't feel as good after the first dose of the day.
Was 3mg too much Bupe to snort for basically a first-timer, low opioid tolerance?

5. Will the application of such a high dose of Bupe cause my WD to be worse when it wears off, or does such a dose of Bupe after my slight binge still help me through WD's as a "taper", even though they are very mild?

6. Is it possible to ejaculate 12 hours after taking this dose, still feeling the drug?

You can take Suboxone a few hours after the oxycodone. The oxycodone only lasts about 1-2 hours max when IV'd, so you should be fine to take it when you feel it's necessary.

IV oxycodone is very short lived, the crack of the opiate kingdom IMO.

This goes to show people are different, and different drugs with different ROA's will render different times you need to wait.

I can't believe you still got precipitated WD's after 60 hours though - that's 2 and a half days. How did it play out? How severe, when did you feel better, when did you dose again, how much longer did you have to wait, etc?

The naloxone will enter the brain, but will not touch the mu-opioid receptors and will be metabolized out of your system before the buprenorphine is, even if you inject it.

This renders it, in essence, inert.

Alright I have been shooting morphine for about a month now. I have been taking methadone to coem off of the morphine. I took 40mgDone the first day and I have tapered down to 20mg today(over a 4 day period) I leave town for business on wednesday, so i was planning on taking my 20mg of done today adn doing nothing tommorow. i have 4 sub's that I was gonna take to get off the methadone. How long should I wait to take the Suboxone? I know methadone stacks up in your system and I dont want to get sick from taking the suboxone too early. Do you think it will be safe to take it on wednesday before my flight 11:37 flight) if my last dose of methadone is today(Monday) at about 4?

You want to wait at least 3 to 5 days I think, so if there's an intermediary opiate you can use (morphine) for a few days between the methadone WD's and using Suboxone, that would be better.

If you want to go straight from methadone to Suboxone, you want to wait as long as possible.

It could. 1mg of buprenorphine is equivalent to 12.5 to 25mg of oxycodone according to a calculator I often use. It said 3mg of buprenorphine is equivalent to 37.5 to 75mg of oxycodone, but I don't know how accurate that is.

To be honest, recreational use buprenorphine often ends up with a higher tolerance to other opiates. When you're otherwise coming down from opiates which is helping lower your tolerance, buprenorphine is continuing to keep it high. The transition from typical opiates to buprenorphine often initially ends up with your tolerance slightly higher, and then as you stabilize you will taper down with buprenorphine which is a lot more comfortable and feasible.

If you get to taper down with Suboxone, or you use only "maintenance" doses which keep you from WDing but do not get you high/buzzed at all, then it should help your tolerance. People have unique reactions to drugs though and I can't guarantee anything.

If you use Suboxone for a while and taper down it will help your tolerance to oxy and H go down. It's not the naloxone but the buprenorphine which does this, as Subutex can also be used for the same purpose, just like Buprenex also can be.

I wouldn't say so, but it depends. Some people need more than others. It sounds right around an average dose considering how much you have used, etc.

I guess there's really only one way to find out. Some people find it to be worse, others find it to be a lot easier. I would say it should more than likely be easier for you than having not used it.

Once again, really only one way to find out. I never found it impossible to ejaculate on any opiates, whether it be heroin or buprenorphine. That's just me though.

Quick response if possible.
I dwindled down to .5 sub every 24hrs. Recently skipped last 2 doses subsituted with vicodin 10mg, I dont feel much effects but also dont feel dope sick: before I would still feel dope sick off 70mg viccs. So am I in the clear can I just stop taking sub after my vic supply is gone? Taper to 5mg a day...? Ch I would love your input

I'll do this from now on. The high really does suck.

I think it was high. Now I know if i ever get my hands on it to save it for harsh times.

Worked for me! Much easier than for oxy or the h.
Also, bupe doesn't constipate as much or itch, but there definitely is histamine.
 
buprenorphine & edema (allergic reaction?)

last week i had a two-day session insufflating buprenorphine. it was my first time using this substance and because (or rather, in spite) of my low opiate tolerance i took +-14mg in total and was very high for two days straight, perhaps even longer.
i used a crushed up 8mg Subutex tablet.
in addition, i used weed, benzodiazepines, and methylphenidate (ritalin) as well during this session. it was my first time using ritalin and i insufflated 70mg of this substance.

now, i did not sleep in this +-60 hour period and i mostly sat in a chair with my right foot folded under my left thigh (nice and comfortable eh) while wearing quite heavy and rigid hiking shoes/boots.

after this session i slept 8 hours and noticed that my right foot was swollen, painful, and red. it looked like a case of erysipelas and i went to my GP right away, who gave me antibiotics even though he could not locate any external infection sites on my foot.

i assumed the combination of vasoconstriction from the ritalin (quite high dose for a first-timer) combined with the depressive qualities of the high doses of opiates/benzos, lack of sleep, and especially constricting blood flow by sitting ON my foot with a rigid boot on caused this reaction. the edema slowly went away in four/five days yet the skin of my foot is still slightly red and irritated.

however, i came across a paper titled "Allergic contact dermatitis from transdermal buprenorphine" in which is stated:

Buprenorphine is a low-molecular-weight, lipophilic, opioid analgesic. The transdermal delivery system (TDS) containing it has skin irritation potential, but at least two cases of contact allergy to the active principal have been described previously.

[Found] allergic contact dermatitis from transdermal buprenorphine (TDB) in five older patients suffering from chronic pain and who developed persistent, pruritic erythematous plaques at the contact sites, with two of them also presenting with a generalized skin eruption.

my question is: who is familiar with this allergic reaction? how likely was my edema the result of the bupe, considering the circumstances?
