I take 20 mgs suboxone a day, will I have any withdrawals symptoms taking 1 50mg tramedo?

Not if you take the tramadol after the subuxone. But if you take the subuxone after the tramadol there will be hell.

edit: maybe that's only if you inject the subuxone, I know injected subxone caused precipitated withdrawal from tramadol at least because of the naloxone. Buprenorphine itself will not replace tramadol.

That's a high dose of bupe your on btw

For some reason I can't explain, tramadol works with bupe, and I've heard many people agreeing on this. It's strange, but then tramadol isn't a true opiate (although I may be wrong), and it has snri effects, as well meaning you can get some unpleasant wd's if you're planning on staying on it for a long time. Right now, I'm on 50mgs daily, and I've tapered down from 300mgs. At that dose I would get great euphoria and the "codeine warm and fuzzies", which was certainly not psychosomatic.

I keep a stockpile of tramadol to aid withdrawals in a future sub detox. (Strictly short-term though), along with loperamide.

I have to say, 50mgs of tramadol will not do much for you IMO; it's a far weaker drug than sub, especialy at your 20mg dose. But who knows? You might get a little something.

I am trying tramadol with bupe for the first time right now, been on bupe a while, id say right now i am on about 4-6mg a day, cannot believe some of the stories i hear of ppl on like triple that, it is crazy to me... the less is more thing is def true with bupe... differs from person to person.. I really wanted to see what this would be like, I have only taken 50mg tramadol so far after doing my normal bupe dose throughout the day (7am-5pm), and I actually do think I feel "something". I am going to take another and see what happens... I see where you said you were once at a dose of 300mg so I am not worried about anything catastrophic until I take more than 3 or 4 of these things in a night... any input? I am def not naive, not a beginner, lol, just only bupe last 5 years... any suggested dosage for tramadol with it? good idea to start at 100mg and see what happens? thanks in advance!

I used to take 1500mg-3000mg tramadol at a time (with 5-10mg added clonazepam to reduce seizure risk) to get high when on 12mg bupe. I never had any complications but that dosage is terrible and I don't recommend it. Though you could definitely take 300mg at once and be fine, some have had seizures on less.

Taking 3-4x 50mg tramadol will not put you in any immediate danger so go ahead and do it.

I second that. That was my regular single dose; on some occasions I'd take 3 of those doses in a day.

Please post how you get on with your experiment; it worked brilliantly for me, but apparently not for everybody. As I mentioned, I was on a major bupe reduction and had mild WD's when I tried tramadol. Best of luck to you.

hey "dmg" , if u dont mind that... ha.

did u take any tramadol while ON the sub at all?

i too keep weak opiates around for sub withdrawals. it works great to help kick completely if u use them short term only.

im certainly curious about the effects from tramadol while on subs regularly. ive also read some saying they experienced euphoria, but some said otherwise.

This is it, when we talk about drug experiences, it's all very subjective.

Keeping short-lasting opiates around does seem like a good idea for detoxing from long-acting opiates. (I can do a 5 day codeine rattle in my sleep, but a months long bupe detox? Fuuuuck....

But yeah, I def got high(not major-league buzz, mind), and I think it was mostly from the relief it took my WD's away entirely. 32+mgs to 12 mgs was a serious reduction, and I was struggling badly until I found tramadol. So, I can't guarantee you'll get the effects I experienced, but what's the harm in experimenting?

Right now, I'm researching this to find out exactly what's going on here re binding affinity etc. Is tramadol synthetic btw?

Edit: yes, I was on sub when I took tramadol. Forgot to mention that. You could say the "euphoria" was the snri effect, but I understand those take months to kick in?

I used to take IV 4mg sub x2 in one day, in the evening I would often throw in a few tramadol ER to glaze the high from the bupe. I liked it for some time, maybe half a year when I had a script. I was on IV bupe daily for years and years. Now I'm on methadone.... but thats another topic.
