Bupe Suboxone and Tramadol

Before I start let me say that while there are a billion threads about tramadol and suboxone use together, I could get very little information on dosing found within. I am one of the people who feels no effects of tramadol on it's own. However, I hear that mixing it with suboxone which I regularly take now (and barely gives me a buzz anymore) creates a very nice feeling. I'm on 16mg of bupe a day nowadays so how much tramadol would we be talking about here?
 
I would start low, as tramadol is one of the few opioids that gets you high while on Suboxone, so start VERY low, maybe 50mg to start with. Tramadol works since its metabolite, O-Desmethyltramadol, is a powerful opioid with an even higher binding affinity than bupe/norbupe. I would never go over 250mg tramadol in a day on bupe, since seizure risks are increased when mixed with other opioids like Bupe.

**DO NOT USE TRAMADOL IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET CLEAN WITH BUPE MAINTENANCE! Doing so will completely negate the point of BRT. If you want to get high, then you shouldn't be on Suboxone maintenance.**
 
keep your suboxone dose reasonably low so you don't raise your opioid tolerance to a point where tramadol wont do anything but produce the SNRI effects. At that point it starts to feel almost like a low dose of amphetamine, but not as good.

Not sure what the point of the asterisks are but what are you considering as an alternative? If you still want to get high you should go back to shooting dope! Obviously. Sorry but bupe+tramadol is infinitely safer than what many undergo for their DOC. Not to mention guilt tripping people.

I don't think he should go back to shooting dope if he wants to get high as bupe is still a much safer alternative. Even if a person isn't ready to quit it is far better to be using bupe then copping shit off the street for several reasons. At 16 mg a day his tolerance is probably already too high for tramadol to give any real affects anyway, and if popping one here and there gets the monkey off his back then I say do it.

As for your question, if you are trying to find a high like what you used to get from other opiates then you are gunna be let down. Hopefully you will fight past this need for a buzz soon and fully utilize bupe for getting clean, but even if you don't do not get down on yourself.

OP, a couple questions:

Have you ever taken Tramadol on it's own recreationally (or otherwise)?
Have you ever had a seizure?
Do you take any other meds, especially those that lower your seizure threshold or ones that, in combo with tramadol, can cause serotonin syndrome (ssri's and dxm, for instance)?

If you've never had a seizure, don't take anything that lowers your seizure threshold AND don't take anything that can cause serotonin syndrome when combined with tramadol, I'll tell you what I do: I find 250-400mg of tramadol + my bupe dose provides a wonderful effect.

The dose of tramadol you'll need to enjoy it in combo with suboxone depends on you though. As you know some love and other's hate tramadol. The same goes for the combo with suboxone. The dose that works for you in terms of the tramadol can only be determined by trial and error.

I don't mean to be a dick, but you really could have figured out what a good dose of tramadol+suboxone would have been from other threads... but we're past that, so moving on...

Chances are, unless you've very sensitive to tramadol's effects, you'll probably needs a minimum of 200mg to enjoy the combo. I'd start with 50-100mg of tramadol, just to be sure you don't have any negative reaction to the combo. If that works try 150-200mg the next time. And if you feel comfy with it, and still want more from the combo, try 250-350 for your third try.

btw, the dose of tramadol seems to be independent of your suboxone dose (e.g. doesn't matter if you take 16mg or 2mg of suboxone). fyi though I take 4mg 2x/day.
 
I've done this combo before on about ~2.2mg Bupe, 150mg Tramadol, and 2mg Clonazepam. I'm prescribed Clonazepam 1mg 3x a day, so I have a higher tolerance to benzos so benzos on opiates really don't effect me as much (as far as memory loss and coordination) but they make me nod the hell out. (also, lowered the seizure threshold for the Tramadol) I should also mention I never take more than 1mg at a time when I dose my Klonopin because I take it as or less than is prescribed, and when I dosed the Bupe in this case I only took 1mg.

I had a great, noddy high that night. I don't recommend it to anyone because you need to try each of these drugs individually first and get a feel (and possibly a tolerance) to them and then the mixing begin, if you are very SAFE about it. I don't really go over 3mg when I dose Bupe, and I dose it recreationally and don't crave after I finish an 8mg strip. I used to have an opiate habit but I've been using Suboxone instead and the ween off because of the half life makes the withdrawals and comedown (for me) less intense, and then I have my Klonopin and Neurontin and Kava to take care of me if I feel ill from w/d's, but I've never gotten any from Bupe, and I use it maybe 2x a month, 1 8mg strip over a 3-4 day period.

Had to bump, sorry, but of course he should not go back to shooting dope, the person you quoted was being facetious. Did you even read the whole post? He is saying bupe+tramadol and safer than IV heroin. And not to get angry at someone because they want to cop a buzz off tramadol while on Bupe maintenance.
