Has anyone had the experience or answer to my qusestion. I ran out of oxy's so I started on subozxone again x 1 day. Will it hurt to take Lortab on top of suboxone....been thru major withdrawels the other way around, but I have heard of Dr.'s prescribing narcs on top of suboxone for breakthrough pain...any experience or stories out there to help?? Thanks, Degendisc..

you'll be wasting your lortab. if you're taking suboxone/subutex, any opiate you take while on it will not bind to the receptors, thus you won't get high.

If you just took a single dose of suboxone (I'm assuming 8 mg), you should be good to go in like 3 days to take other narcotics (half life is 36 hrs)

You're probably thinking of doctors prescribing breakthrough pain medication on top of BUTRANS (buprenorphine transdermal). That works b/c it's such a low dose of buprenorphine that BT meds will actually have receptors to bind to. NOT subutex/suboxone.

Buprenorphine has a MUCH higher binding affinity to opioid receptors than most any other option, so you're not going to get any effect from opiates for around a day, and lessened effects for about 2 days (yes, 24-48 hours). I've personally wasted more oxycodone than I'd prefer to think about due to this. :\
