Bupe suboxone and naloxon question

Hey guys, ive looked intensely through the sub/bupe mega thread and im still alittle confused. sorry if this has been answered but im still alittle confused on the subject on naloxone being in suboxone. Bupe binds to the receptors and has the job of blocking out other opiates. Doesnt naloxone help with prevention of overdosing and misuse of Suboxone? i remember reading that you can IV suboxone, but wouldnt that defeat naloxone's purpose? So im basically alittle confused with naloxone's purpose in suboxone. Thanks for any help guys.

There is no purpose for naloxone within Suboxone. Naloxone, by itself, is used to reverse heroin/opiate overdoses. It does not counteract buprenorphine though, buprenorphine has a greater binding affinity to the mu-opioid receptors.

The only reason naloxone is in Suboxone, is so that Suboxone could be a CIII prescription drug, whereas Subutex is a CII prescription drug.
