Hi everyone,

I have been taking three Tylenol 4's everyday at 3PM for about two years, I have tried tapering down but I just can't muster the will power. I went to see an addiction specialist and he prescribed me 8mg Suboxne to be taken once a day instead of the Tylenols. He said wait 18 hours after my last dose of Tylenol 4's and then take the Suboxne. This doesn't sound right to me, will I now be addicted to Suboxne? Isn't Suboxne really strong, maybe I should cut them in half and just take 4 mgs of Suboxne? Also, can I just take the Suboxne until the withdrawal from the Tylenols is over, 5-8 days then quit it? Also I am on 3 mg of Xanax per day, will the Suboxne cause the Xanax to not work? Thanks for your advice.

Ok so if you are sick than it is safe to take the suboxone. Subs wont block the xanax so youll be fine. But since 3 tyl 4's have codeine (180mg?) that is a very low dose of opiates and taking 8mg of sub on top of 3mg xanax is dangerous. Doctors overprescribe subs. Did you tell your doc your also on 3mg xanax? Usually addiction docs wont prescribe benzos w/ subs because of overdose risks.

You can probably take 1mg (1/8th) of suboxone to get well. The thing is man that you are already addicted and the suboxone is a subsitute to manage your addiction. It doesn't get rid of the addiction until you detox/taper off of opiates completely either by yourself or through rehab.

Also like you said you can do a quick taper by yourself ina week. Theres a thread on bluelight that explains differnent tapering methods on subxone. But the longer you draw it out, the more your body will adjust to the subs and then youll have to deal with those withdraws which last a bit longer than normal withdraws from other opiates.

THis is the suboxone thread:

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I am going to try the 1/8 Suboxne to replace the 3 tylenols and then slowly taper off the suboxne after that. Thanks again.
