Not sure if this should be here or in the media forum, but I'll put it here. An article on ghb chock full of ridiculous and incorrect information. And on a (relatively) pro-drug / anti-establishment site! I guess misinformation is not just for the government.

GHB, GBH, or liquid e, was first brought to the UK media's attention as a rape drug. After trying it, I could understand why. You feel heightened sensitivity of touch, coupled with the same warmth and trust towards others that MDMA induces. Except much, much stronger. But while MDMA suppresses sexual desire, resulting in feelings of platonic love, GHB enhances it; sex is very much on the agenda when you're under the influence. Afterwards, memories may be repressed: hence its use as a rape drug; apparently some girls were raped without even knowing (who knows how, the stuff tastes fucking foul, even when cut with like 90% cola).
And when I say its strong, I really mean it. I mean, I'm fairly experienced with drugs (in my younger years used to drop about ten pills a week), but after a SIP of GHB and cola I felt like I was coming up pretty intensely. After a couple of gulps it was really supreme, rushes and all; shivers on human contact etc. Did feel quite exhibitionist, but easily restrained myself from taking off my clothes.
You don't really get a come-down from GHB, from what I know/ have heard. In fact you're still high the next day; you can go to sleep for eight hours, wake up and still be absolutely mangled, smiling your face off etc. But it seems that the lazy effect is reduced the following day; you can still go to work/ uni/ whatever. Good stuff.
the lazy effect is very strong when you first take it though. This is another reason its a good rape drug; you couldn't put up much resistance. Its very difficult to summon the energy to walk or dance; my friends recommend mixing with charlie. Lots of people just pass out for several hours and report a heroin-like dream-state.
I've never taken much GHB, but some folk I know have had completely crazy, abandoned orgies after drinking about a bottle and a half each. This illustrates the intensity of the trust-effect: the reported orgy occurred in a large group of people who didn't even know each other very well. Usually messing with drugs in these circumstances only results in paranoia and discomfort: GHB had the complete opposite effect.
To conclude: I think GHB's a nasty kind of drug, cause it makes you happy in a stupid, escapist way (kind of like smack). On the plus side, it isn't addictive and it does make you very happy and up-for-it. But I wouldn't recommend doin it around people you don't trust when you're straight; and I wouldn't recommend doind it in large or frequent doses cause its so new, no=one really knows what the long-term effects are; besides, you can tell that it doesn't do your brain any good and it probably fucks with your motor reflexes (that let you do stuff!). To rip off a phrase from the late, great Douglas Adams, its like having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick.
