Study Saying Naloxone Partially Blocks Diazepam - AND ONLY DIAZEPAM - Wtf?

So SWIM recently came across an article online whilst looking for a psychoactive drug with affects as similar to opiates/opiods as possible (as SWIM is on Suboxone - 8mg a day - and due to college and grades cannot detox). SWIM saw a link saying that a study was done with mice, and that each were given first a dose of diazepam, then of naloxone and the affects were severely diminished in some mice of different species. Results were said to be inconsistent. SWIM uses benzos regularly as he does bupe, and SWIM just happened to purchase 120$ in diazepam to help him through getting 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once (secretly on bupe, pain medication was barely if at all affective). Is there anything to this apparent "Experiment" that has been conducted? It was conducted in the 70's. Because SWIM noticed it takes a lot, and SWIM means A LOT more diazepam to achieve even close to the same affect and euphoria from, per say, 1mg of xanax, which would = 30mg of diazepam. SWIM understands Diazepam is quite much so weaker than xanax and clonazepam, but this seems a bit over the top. Any feedback would be muchly appreciated, for if this is true then SWIM needs to get rid of these damn diazepams and get something that will actually ease my pain (as well as chronic anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia).

FYI: Although I use benzos for legitimate anxiety and in this situation pain issues, it is also equally used for recreational reasons.

Thanks to all of you out there helping the world of psychoactive substance users achieve a safer equilibrium of euphoria, knowledge, experience and safety. Believe it or not, you're the people who are out to help others, once again thank you for reading.

Oh really? Wow I never would have thought that. I guess I was caught up in taking precautions to protect myself should this website ever come under scrutiny.

Yeah you use swim in the beginning and then gone to talk about yourself.. Kind of obvious. Plus mods here don't like people using swim, turtle, etc.

Ok Master Evil0ner. I feel your wrath. Now may someone educated post something relevant to this thread? I am about 95% sure this "study" is BS, but I must be sure with the money I (Yes Evil, I, not to displease you) have and am about to spend is worth it considering I'm kinda tight.

i have never heard of naloxone blocking benzos.... in fact i used to be prescribed both concurrently by the same doctor --- so i wouldnt put too much stock in a small study from 40+ years ago

I'm referring specifically to Diazepam (also Phenobarbital) in specific, those two (and a few strange, benzo unrelated) drugs. Nalaxone only targets opoid/opate receptors, but the prospect of it effecting benzo & GABA receptors...... that's what freaked me out. Ive always taken them together to potentiate or I get the twitches when I'm trying to do my bube lol. I suppose it's simply my tolerance rising? I started with 55 of the V's 10mg as well as 7 1mg blue Xanax's. Withing the past week I've found myself at 12 val's and still with the 7 xan's. I suppose I didn't need that many for pain alone, but as I said before, recreational uses got the best of me. I appreciate the answer&opinon, I don't think it's the case whatsoever. I guess I just got all over reactive. Sorry!

When I was on Suboxone I noticed it greatly diminished the effects of benzos,including Xanax,Ativan,and Valium.This happened consitently,even when taking huge ammounts of benzos so I know it wasn't a fluke.I have a high benzo tolerance but this was a reduction in effects that only happened while on Suboxone.Others that I asked about this said they noticed no difference.1 or 2 people even said it slightly increasedthe effects of benzos.The product information print-out from the pharmacy said that Suboxone could increase the effects of benzos so go figure.I know everyone's body chemistry is different and people can have different reactions to medications but it sounds as though you may have the same cross-reaction that I do.Your experience does happen so you're not alone.Once you've been off the Suboxone for a few days your benzos should effect you normally again,at least it did for me.Hope this helps.

it would definitely help if you could site the study, so others can perhaps take a look at it.

also, could you please edit your opening post and replace all the "swims".

i'm going to move your thread.

homeless -> other drugs
