Study finds link between Ecstasy and Parkinson's... NOT!

Highlights the fact that you cant believe everything you read.

Personally I like to make up my mind about things based on my own experiences and I take what is offered with a grain of salt.

Sure I listen but then weigh up for myself all the possibilities.

I wonder if that is the real story or if there is something else bneing covered up..........who knows.

^ Actually in this case, this is merely an example of a science researcher publishing errata for an existing research paper. However, since the subject of the research is of far reaching public impact, and the conclusions have been blown so far out of proportion in comparison to the actual results by extrapolation, and the original study was so widely publicised... that the errata must now also be widely publicised to correct misconceptions.

Usually in a very obscure research area, nobody would give a shit about a mistake in a research paper that slipped past the peer-reviewers: if the research is shown to have unexpected conclusions or those that are irreproducible by other researchers, then the accuracy of the original paper would be called into question in due time, and the original author would be questioned on the research by the normal channels. Under scrutiny of the original results, the discrepancies would hopefully be resolved or explained by the author. Unfortunately, to get ethics approval and guarantee funding for future research, quite often scientists have to extrapolate hypothetical results to show broad-reaching application of their research outcomes. Without being able to 'sell it' nobody will speculatively 'buy it'... and the hyperbole is snapped up by media sources and 'science media' who love to handball along the crystalball gazing of lay-science.

That is still a lot of MDMA. If I told you I had 5 pills over a twelve hour period you would think I'm crazy.

especially if you told us you injected it ALL!!!! i would call you fucking crazy!! ;)
i would call you fucking crazy if you told me you injected one pill. but maybe that's because i'm against injecting, but you get my point!!

Only 5???

alfy, i don't think this thread was meant as a dick measuring thread!!

anyone here would tell you 5 pills in 12 hours is stupid! fair enough, lots of people on here would have done it, but they don't like to brag about it!

the most i've ever had in one night was 2 1/2 pills. on two occasions, once with white doves(new years) and once with white hearts!
and 2 1/2 is all i would have wanted to have! fuck having 5!!

What a quote!

"Like everyone, young people stop trusting you when you bend the truth to scare them," Rosenbaum said in a statement.
"Good science, not misguided fear, is what helps us talk honestly and effectively with our teenagers about drug use and their safety."

In the 5 years I have been reading drug related information, media reports and government misinformation, this is about the most insightful, refreshing and perfectly succinct statement I have ever seen.

Triple thumbs up.
