Student receives free cocaine with Amazon textbook order

Any university student who has ever purchased a used textbook knows that there are sometimes strange surprises hiding between those pages. Usually they come in the form of messy scribbles or perhaps even a forgotten piece of gum, but in one student's case the unexpected (and unwanted) gift-with-a-textbook-purchase was a bag of cocaine.

WPTV reports that Sophia Stockton — a junior at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas — recently ordered a textbook from an independent retailer through the Amazon online storefront. The book was intended for a spring course on terrorism and is called "Understanding Terrorism: Challenges, Perspectives and Issues."

When Stockton flipped through the textbook, she "discovered a bag of white powder had fallen to the ground." According to WPTV, Stockton feared that the bag contained anthrax and took it to the local police department the next day:

"I told them white powder was in my terrorism textbook and so I put it on the table and they’re like, 'oh, okay,' And so he went back and tested it,” Stockton recalls. “ He comes back and says, ‘you didn’t happen to order some cocaine with your textbook, did you?’ And I was like, no!”

Gardner law enforcement officials speculate that there may have been up to $400 worth of cocaine in the bag.

Pretty funny. I would also be scared to get a random bag of white powder, but inevitably some commenters will say "I can't believe that she gave it to the cops. I would have snorted it, dude!".
(Really? Random white powder? Makes me wonder if they are contenders for future Darwin awards...)

According to GardnerEdge, a Kansas area news site, the Gardner Police Department will destroy the cocaine at a later date

Sure they will.
After they either test it themselves, or plant it on someone whose skin color or attitude they don't like.

I'd probably buy a test kit if it really was that much coke :D Dissolving some in water, then adding bicarb would at least rule out anthrax.

Yeah I don't think 400 bucks worth of coke would fit in between the pages of a book. Unless it was a big bag and the coke was all flattened out I guess.

Could be a good way to get drugs tested, put some in a baggie and take it to the cops, say you found it in a book, cops tell you what it is.

She thought it was anthrax, so kept it in her house overnight, then transported it herself to the police station?

Fuck me imagine if it was actually anthrax, goodbyeeee lady and police!

I'd prob flush the shit. I mean, I know it must of been scary getting a random white powder but how likely is it that someone would mail anthrax with a book to some random student? I know the textbook was about understanding terrorism but I don't think that has anything to do with this.

I dunno, I guess I just don't see a point in flipping out over this personally but there are reasons to both sides/actions.

I don't like the police and avoid them as much as I can.

but we all know that cops over exaggerate on amounts all the time.. and also ppl in kansas are like sheltered and ten yrs back in most the state i swear if yall rolled through south central kansas yall would think you was rolling through a time machine and just got stuck in in the late 90's

fucking typical, she feared that the bag of white powder was fucking ANTHRAX?! good god, how stupid are these people?!?! They have been scared of every little fucking thing in the world. ridiculous.
