Na, they aint. Swahili aint a "more specific" form of arabic, LOL yo. Theres arabic names, and theres swahili names, but they aint the same thing.
Some names , like when you see "jamal" "kareem" "malik" "aaisha/ayesha" "Aaliyah" "rasheed" are Arabic.
Some names is swahili, yea, but you are def. missin my point here. And the majority of "black" names AINT swahili, its just ONE language they speak in africa, thats like sayin that 'european names are french" or some shit.
Anyways...a lot of names that SOUNDS like the arabic names that aint quite, like LaTisha, etc, got obvious roots in the "real" 8( names anyways, they aint just made by pullin some sounds out of a hat and puttin em together.
The reason you see it mostly since the 70s is cuz thats when a bigger number of black folks stopped only namin their kids to try to "sound white" and started takin pride in their heritage and "black is beautiful" got some play (which btw was long overdue.)
It aint like people just makin shit up outa thin air most of the times. but yo, even if they was, who cares? Is there somethin wrong with a girl who wants to name her baby somethin that sounds beautiful to her? If she likes the sound of "nae" and "sh" she cant name her baby Tanaysha? who gives a fuck?
The thing that always get me laughin about the folks who hate on "black" names is that I think most of them names sound way nicer than most of the "white" names anyways. I rather have my name be Nakisha than Emily or Anne or some shit like that, real talk. Most of the names people be clownin on are beautiful names that roll off the tongue and sound good and got some style to them and people laugh at em on that ignorant shit about how black folks just "make up" names. Shits old yo, people been talkin that crap since Reagan was president, takin shit about the 'welfare queens" and all that, this is 2011 yall, we got all kind of people livin in this world and country so why people gotta still talk about that I cant understand.
