I am trying to get out of an 8yr bad relationship. I don't work and would like to go to school... which has been a longtime dream of mine. I have a child and I know I could not support us by just leaving on a spur of the moment thing. I have considered stripping for quick money and I am recently clean after a four year opiate addiction. Previously meth, x, coke .Which I don't plan on doing ANYMORE. Just some opinions would be great. I don't want to degrade myself but I know I could do it on my own and get where I need to be. I have the look and body for it but I guess I'm just scared of what will be thought of me!!
 
I don't really think you need to worry about what will be thought of you. I've got a friend who's currently stripping to help pay for his studies but he could have gotten another job without too much difficulty, that's just what he wanted to do cuz he thinks it's fun. Honestly so long as you can deal with the fact that predominantly creepy old guys will be staring at you almost naked I say go for it...it's only a degrading job if you make it so.
 
Stripping can be a great job. Have you thought about camming as well? I have sent you a PM.

given this, you probability of relapsing in such an environment is rather high.

perhaps you should consider employment that will not have you being around bad habits.
 
Well that is a fear concerning drugs.... but I am pretty strong willed considering all but the pain pills was years before my daughter. She means the world to me and at this point I would do ANYTHING for her to have a good normal life. I can't be naive thinking a Micky D's job will support us. And my ex will not be helping. He has five. children, one with me and he enables my drug use more say than me on my own
 
when your boss, coworker, client offers you something, and you don't feel good because your stripping to put food in your kids mouth...

Stripping isn't a long term viable option unfortunately, you may be best served by getting a 'real' job and taking some courses to enhance your employability so you can find a career that supports your family.
 
That's the point. Stripping would be a way to better employment via being able to afford school and raising my child!
 
Temporary. Would be my goal. And why is it not a real job? It brings in money, im not a whore who sleeps around & I see nothing wrong with working with what I have so long as no ill effects fall on my child. If so, that would be the end of it and I would be crawling vback to my ex and we can live in misery while I raise his five children and forget about school.& a better life.I have friends who strip and are well on their way to their goals. I see this as an option... and not a bad one.
 
former addicts + stress + situations with lots of potential for substance abuse = likely relapse.

if you are able to handle it power to you. but many people were/are not.
 
If I was a chic, I'd totally do it. Every girl I've ever known to do it.. even if they weren't incredibly hot.. still made shit loads of cash. If you work in a busy club, you can easily make a couple grand a night. I'm all about doing whatever it takes to survive and take care of you and your own. Much respect.
 
Yep yep... what I was thinking n Im not ugly by no means nor am I the hottest but i could make a killing I'm sure. Thanks to all who had something POSITIVE TO SAY! the reality is that's what I needed.

Hmmm...a couple grand sounds like a pretty excessive exaggeration. I am sure it happens but that is definitely not the norm.

I stripped on and off for 14 years. Most of the places I danced in were dive bars, and I would make enough to pay the bills but it never was a huge amount of cash. I didn't hustle for lap dances, however, which is where most of the money is in most clubs. Grinding on random dood's cocks was never that appealing to me. A lot of clubs which push the girls do hustle lap dances often are just shifty covers for prostitution.

When I started dancing I worked for an agent, and would get a base pay and would travel to various clubs for a week at a time, with room usually included. Dealt with a lot of crazy bitches during that time. One club, another one of the shifty prostitution covers, wouldn't let me give a private dance to a woman, which really ticked me off. And one of the girls PISSED on another girl's costumes in the dressing room. Theft was also a regular occurrence. Also, at one of the first clubs I worked at, the management actually gave lines of coke to the girls; probably just enough to get them hooked. There can be elements of drug abuse in certain places.

Best place I worked in was the Lusty Lady. Woman managed, with a high base wage, and a peep show so it was all behind glass. Worked there for over 7 years until it went out of business. The management made sure to keep the crazy bitches to a minimum though there were still occasional bursts of that there. I became a much better performer working there.

Stripping definitely shaped me into the person I am now. It is not for everyone and you have to have a strong spirit to deal with all the bullshit involved. I am done with that aspect of my life now but I know it made me into a stronger person overall.

I didn't say you'd make that in shit holes hah. But busy clubs in major cities like NYC.. those girls make exorbitant amounts of money on a nightly basis.

With a lot of experience, wealthy regular customers, etc. You can't expect that for a few years, I'm sure. Beginners ... you don't earn quite as much. Enough to pay the bills probably. It also depends if you can dance too ... that is important ... if you've never danced before in your life then you probably want some experience first.

I would definitely be a beginner but I think ;) I can dance somewhat. But I CAN LEARN haha. Its something to try. Can always say hell no if I don't like it first time. I will find someone experienced to learn from, if I can find someone good enough.

Dancing really has little to do with how much money one makes. It is all about the hustle and charm and ability to milk a man for as much money as possible.

And I still stand by that a couple grand a night is an exaggeration and certainly not the norm. Most clubs charge stage fees and mandatory tip-outs so a good percentage of the money made from hustling lap dances goes straight to the house, which is lame.

The only sex workers I know who make that kind of money are specialized hookers, and even in that business is difficult to make a lot of money unless one is incredibly smart and able to hone in on a niche market. One of my best friends pegs men, doesn't allow them to do anything to her other than mild touching of her breasts and very rare occasions of where one client who went down on her. She makes a couple grand a night from that. She has a regular customer base who provide most of her income.

I had another friend who was a hooker and hardly made any money. Granted, she was quite overweight, but she was lazy and didn't market herself as much as she could have.

I see stripping as just another job. I don't see it as any different. Who cares what anyone thinks? Do what you want. Especially since you're doing it to provide for your daughter. That's admirable.

I wasn't saying you had to be an expert dancer, I was just saying she should probably learn how to lap dance, etc. before attempting one at the club :p lol. That's all.
