Sorry, it must be my "must always have the last word" complex ;) I don't understand how the BBC could just tear up his contract, for what is perhaps one of the most watched shows on their rosta?! Top Gear is so scripted now, but it is still fun, and I like how it's something the whole family can watch whilst still containing some decent car pron.

Clarkson is employed by the Beeb though. the beeb have various codes of practice and they've got us lot to answer to ultimately. MM, ITV would be a more suitable place for him really.

how would you oppose this freedom though? its impossible to force someone to think another way, unless we want some clockwork orange/1984esque scenario, which i highly doubt you do. to me human rights are paramount, maybe we can punish those who do not exercise the responsibilitties that come with those rights, but any political system which opposes them full stop seems to me like it will end in many many tears.

No I just meant by debate and argument. I was being a bit flippant, of course people are "free" to hold political views but I don't think that means we have to "respect" political views in the same way we can "respect" people's taste in food or music or whatever. Views about society affect us all, what you'd like for dinner is your own business. Within reason.

I certainly didn't mean that the political system should oppose people's "freedom" to hold views.

It's making it a pain in the arse trying to find genuine posts to reply to. Seemingly, unlike some of the "idle bastards" here I work hard during the day instead of flinging shit round on bluelight from my office pc's and it's a pain to try and catch up on this thread. :p

i have just UA'd 44 posts. i know that wasn't just directed at me but i was stuck in a very boring meeting all afternoon, and upon my return did try to break it up, with some success i might add.

I didn't suspect anything sinister was going on :P I was just interested as to how i'd come across as a manager. I quite like the idea that I am a natural manager, when all I can normally manage to do is roll Js and make tea lol. I would quite like to continue our conversation about la revolution though :D

Was this the thread we side tracked and talked about the new agency law? Well going to post about it in here anyway as I can't be bothered to find out for sure. We have now had it confirmed from our agency, the company we work for and our union we will not be getting the agency worker pay rise or equal benefits because of the contract we're on which states we are excluded. We get 2 extra days holiday a year though, braw! Other agency workers who aren't on our contract go up from £6.25 an hour to just under £9. :\
 
How the fuck did you end up on this contract that excludes you spade? Surely that wouldn't stand up in court (as the actress said to the bishop)
